Stupid people is a vulnerability so fundamental, unavoidable, and unfixable in any and every safety sensitive or secure system/process that everyone just ignores it.

And what are they going to do with the hens that do survive while they sanitize the barns? How are they going to disinfect those birds? And then do you straggle through that rotation with a decimated flock or do you mix in new chicks?

The marginal capability gains of those software updates would just be vertical lines without it.

Your institution will generally have a history with the granting Federal agency and a previously established approved rate. That’s the rate you’ll use to draw down your grant money until the year’s costs are audited and a new rate approved.
comment in response to

Approved overhead rates are based on actual costs, which aren’t known until after an accounting period institutional fiscal year is complete. Under Federal Accounting Rules if your actual OH rate is lower than the estimated rate you were paid, Feds can claw back the difference.

The required auditing process to get an overhead rate approved is cumbersome so it’s not uncommon to pick the agency you get most of your money from, have them do the audit and be the “cognizant agency”, then get waivers from other agencies to use that approved rate.

Hell, the pack in Storm Lake would hire charter buses to run down to Brownsville, TX the weekend after raids to haul deported workers (and fresh recruits) back up for work on Monday.

I’ve long held the “neighborhood pub” paradigm of social media platforms. Every pub owner can/should choose who they allow in their pub and set standards for behavior. If someone’s behavior at another pub has been problematic, not letting them into your establishment is perfectly fine.

So they can engineer a machine to strip the sprouts off the stalks right there in the field but they can’t figure out how to cut and gather the stalks, too?

The land sale thing is only one part of what put them in danger of liquidation. The other was that the prior CEO bought himself a shrimp supplier on the side and forced RL to buy all their shrimp through him. And then he expanded the endless shrimp promos.

I waffled on DBQ vs Davenport for that East Coast stop and landed on DBQ for its old school union roots and proximity to the Wisconsin battleground.

If it wasn’t Ann Selzer, I’d agree. But no props needed, she’s got brass and will publish her numbers regardless (after meticulously rechecking to confirm what even she knows is a massive outlier).

Which could have been achieved through less restrictive means like giving women more legal freedoms like no fault divorce and access to financial tools like having their own bank accounts.
