Is that a Ms Pac-Man cab with a 1942 or 1943 game and a marquee for yet another game? 🤔

J'aime très fort les gens qui portent un masque alors qu'ils n'ont pas l'air particulièrement malades. Je hais les gens qui n'en ont pas alors qu'ils toussent leurs poumons.

I could do without greed or pride but I'm in for the rest.

You forgot the EspGaluda gems

Even without digging into super-obscure Japanese stuff you can simply list games from Colecovision, Intellivision, Master System, most post-2600 Atari console games, etc.

Vanguard (SNK, june 81) The second game to take Scramble and add it multiple directions of scrolling; it also adds multi-directional shooting using 4 buttons. There's a kind of powerup system where you touch something that makes you invincible for a few seconds. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MwV...

Not knowing a game is not common - it's inevitable. You can know about all the games on the NES or whatever, but do you also know all games on DOS? On PC88? On the Bally Astrocade ? On the Casio Loopy?

Ah, eux aussi ? 😬

Alors que ne *pas* le déchoir après une condamnation... *Ça* ça envoie un message fort ! Venez chez nous, on est une république corrompue jusqu'à l'os !

The goal is not to find which game is the first to combine some number of gameplay elements (it's still possible to innovate in that regard), but which is the first to have element X. Like the first where you extract resources, or the first to allow to combine resources, but maybe not both.

It's just a guy asking a badly worded question: "is Deltarune the only game to do X" instead of "what other games do X".

If it's an Intel Mac you can boot on a Batocera USB stick. It's really neat and works very well.

Exactement. Ils ont changé la composition des aérosols, et voilà (en gros). Alors que se passer de pétrole... Beaucoup préfèrent crever.

Centipede is a classic shmup of the era, and a hit in the USA, at least. The game is simple but intense, with original gameplay elements, and uses a setting that changes radically from spaceships, which is good bc players are sick of it. It's still pretty fun today. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgwX...

Centipede (Atari, june 81) You control a ship using a trackball, moving freely in the lower area of the screen. There are mushrooms blocking your shots, centipedes going down, spiders and insects coming from the bottom and the sides. It's a pretty trippy shmup. www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgwX...

Super Astro Fighter (Data East, may 81) A slight update on '79 Astro Fighter, which mostly adds a background. The only "interesting" feature of this game is being on DECO Cassette, a very cheap option for operators that already own the system. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wQM...

Space Odyssey (Sega, april 81) The first of a long series of games copying Scramble - this one has the luxury of alternating horizontal and vertical scrolling, but it's technically very poor with jittery animations and enemis that "jump" from one place to another. www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5iH...

Pleiads (Tehkan, april 81) A Phoenix variant, with some copied and some original elements, with a few different gameplays: defending a base, shooting UFOs, then landing on an airstrip. It's not extremely original, but it's still pretty fun. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKws...

Killer Comet (Centuri, april 81) Your ship can shoot in 3 directions, and enemies change look for each wave but don't change behavior. It never stops, and never changes, so it's real boring pretty quick. www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-Vf...

Black Hole (TDS & Mints, april 81) A ship at the top, red orbs dropping down, an asteroid field slowly descending, basic gameplay, weird concept, boring and repetitive game. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iYd...

S'ils ne payent pas de taxes ils n'ont qu'à se barrer plutôt que de profiter du système et extraire les richesses pour leur propre compte. Qu'est-ce qu'on y perd s'ils partent puisqu'ils ne contribuent pas? Qu'ils parasitent ailleurs.

While AAA games are touted as art because they're hyperrealistic, real art actually makes you think and find deeper meaning, intended or not.

Gorf (Midway, april 81) A Phoenix variant copying several games: SI, Space Laser, Galaxian... Stages are very distinct, the gameplay is good, it has a rank system, synthetized speech, music... It's a pretty good shmup, even a bit more popular than Phoenix. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Io4...

I like this chunky horse. I'm sure having the real size or larger size as an option would be too much work but it would be awesome.

Satan of Saturn / Zarzon (SNK, march 81) We're slowly getting out of "Galaxian variant" and getting into "Phoenix variant" territory here: it's still the same basis but there are varied levels and enemies. It's still basic, not imaginative at all, and seems unfair. www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMZ5...

Defend the Terra Attack on the Red UFO (Artic, march 81) A Galaxian variant, almost more basic than the original: it doesn't have much interest, especially in a year packed with innovations. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAPW...
