Understanding Canadian Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) & Wildfire Smoke Wildfire smoke consists of toxic gases and particulate matter (PM) when breathed in gets into our lungs, bloodstream, and even our brain. 🧪🧵1/ #IAQ #IndoorAirQuality #wildfire #smoke #AQI #AQHI #Canada

Took the train today to Westbrook for the first time. Way finding with in the station could be improved. Maybe label north and south exits or use the street names at each exit?

#yyc people who live in polluted cities know when the air smells like smoke it is not smart to go for a run. If you have to exert your self where a well fitted N95. Why is our leadership not explaining this to the public? #ABsmoke #Smellslikeclimatechsnge.

Forestfire smoke, measles, COVID ~ ALL AIRBORNE! N95s prevent the intake of harmful airborne nasties. I can remember my parents’ reaction to ā€œbecause everyone else is doing itā€ re stupid stuff I wanted to do as a kid. They insisted on critical thinking. As an adult in 2025 I mask. It’s logical

Shout out to my Calgary Transit Bus Driver who avoided the car that ran through a red light middle of the cycle. Then a block later navigated past a pedestrian darting in and out of traffic sporadicly. She is an everyday hero getting people around safely!

Sitting outside a school tonight watching HS kids walk out the front door go 100 paces out of there way to the flashing beacon crosswalk and the 100 paces in the direction they came from to the bus stop directly across the street from the front door.

Smells like climate change in #yyc tonight.

bsky.app/profile/bigc.... Thanks for this information.

This weekend Calgary closes 42.2km of streets to drivers so people, who’ve paid $150, can run a marathon. Why don’t we do this more often for everyone to walk, run, bike and offer it for free? Mexico City does. Seoul South Korea does. #canada #calgary #muĆ©veteenbici #cdmx

Calgary: Parks/Highways Memorial Drive 50 - 70 km/hr runs along the Bow River but is currently down to two lanes during construction of a berm to mediate flooding. City is still functioning. What if we didn’t put back the extra lanes but left it as park space along the river?

I mask inside 😷, wear shoes and clothes, use an umbrella when it rains, a hat for the sun, a seatbelt in the car, a helmet on the bike. I understand risk and take measures to minimize it. I use my brain to think. I cherish my health. I protect my family. I'm weird like that.

So sad to hear June will be changing her name to May.

You don’t need millions to build safer streets today. Just reclaim one of the many car lanes and reallocate it for people utilizing active transportation.

60 y/o driver runs down 3 kids in a Lethbridge crosswalk at 7:30 AM and is fined ~$1,000 after pleading guilty. The real crime: Allowing residential streets to have vehicle speed limits of 50km/h where people are crossing with no red lights to stop traffic #Lethbridge www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/arti...

It's odd to me that cargo bikes aren't super common with normie dads. It's right up there with baseball, garage beers, and grilling in terms of dadness.

Calgary report says Edmonton spends $50M per year on traffic safety programs. Calgary? $5M per year -- deaths exceeded a 10-year record last year, so the city of Calgary wants emergency funding to address those stats...an extra $1M. Story here youtu.be/6UM_gqOcmCs

Walking along Calgary’s new beach west of the Peace Bridge. I want every candidate in this fall’s municipal election to be talking about access to water for #YYC #yyccc #yyc25 #yycH2O

#janeswalk starts today. Which ones are you going to #yyc? janeswalk.calgarycommunities.com

Jane’s Walk weekend officially starts today and we couldn’t be more excited! Cllr Carra’s Inglewood event is sold out, but there are still a ton of fantastic walks throughout Ward 9 and all over Calgary to register for! janeswalk.calgarycommunities.com/join-a-walk/ šŸ“ø Third Photography

@cbcnews-rss.bsky.social Calgary home stretch talking about celebrating temperatures possibly breaking records at 28C this May weekend is not helpful. We are in a climate emergency and I expect better from our public broadcaster. #climatechangeisreal

Air filters in classrooms reduce sick days by more than 10% "Putting air filters in classrooms seems to boost student attendance, which may be due to them reducing levels of air pollution, pollen, pathogens or all three." Source: archive.md/fJMuT

Plans for protected cycling routes are spread across many different City plans and there's no single resource to see them put together. So at Myke for Ward 7 HQ we've gone through and drawn them all out onto a single map to give a sense of what the Ward 7 network will look like when it's complete:

There’s still time to cast your vote! This election is far too important to not cast your ballot. Visit How2Vote.ca to find your nearest poll. Let’s do this, Calgary Centre! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦

Spent the day getting out the vote for @lindsayluhnauyyc.bsky.social

Hey Alberta, Let’s try to keep up with Montana on this please!

My cargo bike CAN where my car CAN’T. Car: Caps out at 3 kids. I’ve got 2 kids. Hosting more than 1 friend? Nope. šŸ™…ā€ā™€ļø Bike: Seats 4 kids w/ a 5th on the back. 🤩 The smartest upgrade for us wasn’t a $40k minivan - it was a bike. šŸš²šŸ’” #cargobikelife

Something amazing is coming to Sunnyside… and it starts next week. 🤩 #yycBike
