One of our cats is getting a bit portly so we need to get her more exercise. But… cat and exercise don’t really go together. New laser pointer and she’s sprinting around trying to get it. (Not our cat in this GIF)

In amongst all the excitement I fear many have missed this outstanding bit of trolling by Friedrich Merz. The Chancellor gifted Trump a gilded framed copy of his grandfather’s German birth certificate... reminding Americans that Trump is both the child and grandchild of migrants.

If you ever want a sight into general practice IT: this morning I had to go into my GP practice where I’m a patient. Routine bloods. 0835 appt. Practice turned on computers way before 0800, not a single one had finished updates before my appt. Not one usable computer in the whole practice.

Pull up a seat....

In today’s uninteresting trivial news: Today, I bought my first new jacket in over a decade.

This should be a fun thing waiting for Trump's response. Neither is capable of backing down, so it should be really interesting. May need popcorn.

Had to log onto LinkedIn for something, and I got an AI advert straight away trying to get me to pay for an AI recruiter. Frankly, if you're using an AI system to bring in humans in the massively subjective area of recruitment then you deserve all the trouble you'll get.

They do know why, but it’d bankrupt them if they said that it’s because it’s an immature system designed to gaslight you because: - its data source is often rubbish (c.f. the whole internet) - the designers know being helpful gets more usage than being accurate. 1/2

Some councillors are profoundly unfit to hold public office and should not be allowed anywhere near children’s services.

There should be a rule against using the phrase "use existing resources" (or similar) while making huge promises to make things wonderful for patients. I recommend a mandatory punishment of having to make a 50 page presentation justifying your job to your worst enemy. Who then gets to judge you.

This is bad news for The King.

The sharing of data among companies via Google profiles reached a new level of annoyance today. Needed a new lightweight waterproof jacket, so searched on one website. Within 1hr, I'd received discount codes from discount sites, other retailers selling similar, and "here's camping gear to match!"

The state of this drivel of an article, and the state of the editorial team who allowed such drivel to be published unchallenged.

You don’t get to be a senior leader without seeing the human consequences of reorganisations on people. The current ICB reorgs are having massive impacts on morale and wellbeing before anyone is even out the door. If your “plan” doesn’t have that as the top issue then it’s a failed plan already.

One of the reasons agency work is appealing to NHS nurses (aside £) is that it offers flexibility not always available via substantive/ bank contracts. I’d urge the DHSC to back flexible working, including ‘any hours’ bank work to reduce spend and improve retention. app.hsj.co.uk/2025/06/02/g...

🚨 Detectives launch corporate manslaughter investigation against Nottingham University Hospitals Trust which is facing the largest maternity safety inquiry in NHS history:

Why #Pride matters.

It may be Monday cynicism, but I’m convinced that if Wes Streeting asked everyone in the NHS to give him money saving tips that the top answer grouping would be “cut (area that the respondee hasn’t ever worked in but dislikes irrationally) heavily and give us the money.”

Well, Matt Hancock is unemployed now, and his app needs a new home.

No Star Wars, no Star Trek. Name a favourite science fiction franchise

Pride Month matters, and I wanted to do something small but meaningful through my chocolate shop. This limited-edition bar is available just for June, and all profits go to the LGBT Foundation. ✨ Please check it out or share if you can!

Everything you chose to ignore. By me. *** It begins, as all true things do, in silence. Not the silence of peace, but that of endurance. Years pressed flat beneath boot and ballot. Taught to bow before the flag, To bleed politely. To smile when asked, "Where are you really from?"

From @shaunlintern.bsky.social in today’s Sunday Times: I don’t get it. That’s an abysmally low number. I just don’t get why people don’t want the vaccines. My head won’t stretch to the reasons given in the article and from people I’ve heard. www.thetimes.com/uk/healthcar...

Thou shalt not tie up children in zip ties and then deport them, for that maketh thou a MONSTER. A MONSTER! THE PEOPLE DOING ZIPTYING CHILDREN ARE MONSTERS!
