It was a short day to be fair (2030-0300), but Saturday was challenging.

I knew a guy who wore makeup in his teens and early 20s, to cover up his acne.

Ah, you too. Thankfully I was provided accommodation to be near the control centre, to which I finally returned at 0315.

Charlemont as in the West Bromwich one?

I think the difference between Scotland and Germany is that not every station in Scotland has a ticket machine and if you board without a ticket you can buy one on the train. In Germany there is a machine and a line on the ground - pass that without a ticket and expect to pay around €100

Berlin is I think both time and distance or zone. Other smaller cities it’s just time.

Yes. You expect to be checked and they do it regularly - on my last visit they got on the first train I went on (from the airport). I can’t recall any visit to Germany I have made in almost twenty years when I didn’t have my ticket checked at least once.

It’s quite a sad contrast that we can’t have it like the German method - open barriers, but if you’re caught without a ticket (and a you will get your ticket checked), a hefty fine.

I’m glad I went by train last time I was there.

My grandfather went to Laurence Sherriff and we still had relatives there until recently. I went for the first time since the early 90s a couple of years back, there were more Crames in the graveyard than I’d ever seen in real life.

DO IT. Went for the second time last year and didn’t regret it, now I find out that several colleagues have work connections there.

Clearly aiming at a certain age range there 😉

Wait until you turn up to work with only one safety boot…

True, but if the aim is to hinder a future Russian invasion, the first lines to be converted would be on the east of the country across and alongside the border - not the lines to/from a NATO ally.

The report from YLE in Finnish was a little less bold. This was an ‘in principle’ decision which will be reviewed and confirmed in 2027. Construction could start in 2030 with a handful of lines to the Swedish border - but there’s nothing very concrete here.

Oh no your lot have taken over the whole of 3G. It’s our lot from 3B (all of 3B) that have moved in to 3R1

Don’t go there. All of ‘the project’ has been relocated to 3R1 and we have to share 23 desks.

In my case the digestive system bits should have been titled “How your body doesn’t work” as it didn’t cater for those of us who had been surgically enhanced in that area.

It’s scarily catchy and tbf going for Sauna does make you feel amazing (unless it was the last one I had in Finland which ended badly).

Can you unlock them from the outside? As one SAS cabin crew decided to do to me a few months ago while I was sitting there minding my own business...

Seriously, I think I’m going to have to wear dark glasses.

I’ve recently had to write a document where “plate rack insertion” was abbreviated to P/R ins and I winced every time I wrote it.

Two were signalling terms and the third medical. And Public Relations didn’t even come into it!

I was about to suggest it was an axle counter area.

Unfortunately the way my mind works a PR means one of about three things and I’m sure this is none of them…

I ran to the Victoria line once. In my defence, I was called to attend a signal failure at Green Park. I never ran to a failure again. Walked purposefully, yes, but never ran.

I actually contemplated drawing up the espresso in the Imodium syringe. I still detest the taste of coffee.

Sam Bowman can, quite frankly, get to fuck.

I thought that at first but it can be very hit and miss - sometimes even more greasy than KFC used to be.
