“This $80-per-year subscription will introduce AI tools to build custom routes and provide real-time trail condition forecasts, trail traffic heatmaps, and a feature that lets you identify trees and plants using your phone’s camera.”

It has all the bummers one would expect 😭 techcrunch.com/2025/05/12/a...

I'm bummed that AllTrails is adding an AI angle as well now. Having AllTrailsGPT telling people what trails are good (instead of using critical thinking) worries me since AI Guiding People Through the Backcountry sounds like the setup for the next "Google Maps Leads Someone Off Bridge" Headline 🙃

QVC infomercials are always tied to fever dreams for me, as I only watched them as a kid when I was unable to sleep while sick, so this tracks.

They're coming for the "shitty AI-generated print-on-demand-tshirts-that-are-advertised-to-you-based-off-of-your-facebook-advertising-interests" market. But apparently are brute-forcing it 🤣

Seeing this made me go and listen to Nutshell since that's my favorite AIC song. song.link/i/268435292 This then made me go listen to my favorite cover of it, by Billy Strings: www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQZq... Yes, hillbilly banjo covers of AIC, they exist and *slap* Great way to start the day!

I feel this deeply in my bones. If there is a good bit just sitting there, ready to be committed to, I’m just *gonna* do it.

lol, this has brought up core memories of looking at Every. Single. Card. with my grandma when I was young. This was the early version of rotting / endlessly scrolling for me 🤣

I think turning this off fixed me

OMG there is a way! www.techbout.com/prevent-voic... Why have I let executive dysfunction get the best of me on this for so long—I was only one short internet search away from pure bliss this whole time 🤣
comment in response to post
LITERALLY. Surely there is a way to turn this off, right? I’ve never done one of these on purpose.

A modicum of showing off, but it does feel nice for hill climbs, stretching, and grabbing a snack!

Oh also, be aware of the side-effects. For some, it results in GI effects at the beginning. It will lead to weight gain as you fill up your creatine stores (it's just water weight, but it will stay with you as long as you're on the creatine) Other than that, it's pretty straight-forward

This is probably one of the best resources out there on the topic from Ultrarunning coach Jason Koop's podcast: www.jasonkoop.com/podcast/crea... Hope this helps! 3/3

So basically since you can push a bit harder, you can then proceed to put on more muscle (in theory). Your body has a finite capacity for storing creatine in your muscle cells, so taking the supplement really just helps you keep those levels as high as possible. 2/

Yeah, some people get fancy with cycling it on and off, and all of that, but at the end of the day, it makes negligible gains, so I just do it daily. The important thing IMO to understand about creatine is that it doesn't make you stronger, it simply gives you a bit more energy to push harder. 1/
comment in response to post
Hi, I do this! Generally anything over ~2.5g of creatine a day is a waste when you’re using it daily for a long time (more than a few weeks). I usually do about that much into a water bottle or shake. Timing doesn’t matter when you take it, just generally do it daily.

amusingly, @starstryder.bsky.social noted over on Twitter that we also have a new record for number of toilets in space (it's 11)

I feel exactly the same way. They also have rising fash, so if I'm gonna have rising fash, why not rising fash in a non-car-centric city 🥲

I would buy these two items. Small and compact, more than enough power to charge your laptop and it has some spare ports for other things. a.co/d/epaTqwP a.co/d/dMgBZf4

I wish that I could bestow the gift of mornings on all my friends. Then in my morning person communist utopia, all places would be open at 6 AM and everyone would enjoy their 9PM bedtime 😂

Being a morning person is seriously a super power!

Yep. We live in a delusional world here in the US.

I was recently riding from Amsterdam to Schiphol, and people were upset that the train was running 1 minute late. I was shaking my internal head thinking of the Amtrak trip I took where the train in front of us was 24hrs delayed, or the consistent 1-2hr delays I get on my 2hr train to Chicago 😅
comment in response to post
I hope so. Train travel is seriously so superior. Unfortunately in the US, Amtrak is doing their best to make it more like air travel, which is so dumb. Their recent changes around Met lounge access are infuriating.
