burnt-out, neurodivergent, polygottal polymath and reconstructed emigré from the right-wing fever-swamps Without a conscience, I could have been Q. Had I been able to conform, I’d have been a pastor. Now I’m some kind of artsy-fartsy, paganish commie.

I haven’t eaten in a week, but I’m still alive kept going by the silence of the world, & I wait Madleen.

Here are some texts I got from an immigration lawyer friend of mine. Shared with permission. Some of the bleakest shit I’ve ever heard.

It's not going to be enough to abolish ICE. There are going to need to be prosecutions.

A CALL TO THE FREE WORLD Gaza has been gasping for its last breath for three months. Gaza is now counting its days waiting for death. We beg you. We plead with you. Send at least 500 ships to Gaza NOW, not tomorrow. We are begging you, once again.

How embarrassing to work for the organized kidnapping ring known as "ICE." Rolling out of bed every day to be a brainless goon. You are lower than a worm to me

Pete Hesgeth — who wants to rename the Navy ship that honors Medgar Evers, a WWII veteran who landed on Omaha Beach — is using that same beach for a photo op in which he promises we will “never forget” the veterans there. What an unbelievable asshole.

I’ve said it before but it is embarrassing that so many intellectuals spent years in small factional battles over the propriety of calling this fascism.

"Historians called this period, in which the official government competed for power with the council of billionaires and boers, as the Dual Power..."

giga lulz giga, giga lulz

A lot of very lazy analysis boils down to assuming all Palestinian accounts are scams and the reason for this is that the cost to the armchair analysts for being wrong is zero. It's not cost-free to the unfairly maligned Gazans however.

i think it was deleuze or foucault who said that religious garments like the veil and hijab would each far outlive their respective religions as sexual fetishes and i don't think there's a better contemporary anecdote for this than the zoomers who take up the mantel of "trad life"

I've been a little quiet. Yes, it's partially because of the aforementioned life changes (including a major misfire), partially because of the depression, and also I forgot my login information so that I can log back on to bsky on my phone. 🤦‍♂️

“This car—why did I keep this car? Ten people, right there! …” I’m not him. I didn’t even save one. But this scene is constantly on my mind. I am so sorry my sisters and brothers. I am so sorry. Do not forgive me, but I pray Allah you endure! Perhaps God even listens to white Americans. Perhaps.

I’m going to be quieter for a few weeks/months, starting this weekend—making some big life changes. Free Palestine! Liberate CECOT! Down with fascism! Black lives matter! Trans lives matter! Autism is not an epidemic to be cured! And, your body is beautiful and should be honored. 💚✊🍉

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

>reading the David Brooks Op Ed about mass strikes and seeing him quote the communist manifesto at the end

going to bed on the high note that for this moment public pressure still works may it multiply every day

I’m almost starting to not disdain this guy. I mean, I still think that he* is far from a typical Republican and movement conservative, but, ya know, good for him, willing to evolve like this. *Brooks—Sirota’s great

Chris Van Hollen flying down to El Salvador and refusing to leave until he got in a room with Kilmar Abrego Garcia blows up every other “well what do you expect them to do?” defense for elected Democrats

i need some space… and maybe you do too

emotionally difficult to reckon with the necessity of appeals like "oppression could happen to you too" when "oppression shouldn't happen to anyone" should be enough it feels like we're all nails squabbling about who should be hammered, and the quantity of hammering is only ever preserved

This is the heart of it. There are just 100 senators in our system. They’re some of the most powerful people in the country, if not the world. Anyone who acts like they’re just smol bean Americans who can’t do anything about our current national emergency are chumps.

one senator insisted on seeing his constituent one that’s all it took to apply pressure what the ever living fuck are the rest of y’all doing???

I can’t believe that I am congratulating David Brooks, but here we are. Yes! Thank you! Clearly the Trump gang is executing a Machiavellian strategy to establish a dictatorship. This was predictable. It has been obvious for weeks, and it isn’t stopping.

Look we may no longer have free speech exceptionalism but goddamned if we’re not still absolutely exceptional.

1. A major bill protecting trans people just passed in Washington. It makes insurers cover 12-month supplies of HRT which can be obtained at pharmacies, allowing trans people to stockpile medication to outlast supply disruptions. The latest from S. Baum. Subscribe to support our journalism.

reposting this again because quite honestly we would like to keep living... we were not able to get passports so we dont know what to do about that, but there is still the possibility we could at least get somewhere safer if we had a few thousand dollars to work with. 😔

if the point of the tariffs was to relocate manufacturing then you can't go around doing "trade deals". conversely if you are doing trade deals nobody is going to want to invest in domestic manufacturing. as Martin Sheen said, I don't see any method here
