"Apologies, Wing, but I haven't heard of this book at all and I can't find any information on WorldCat about it being in any library. Sorry!" Is it a paper?

I've dropped an email to the lecturers I had for Medieval Celtic Studies last year. I'll let you know if I get any kind of response.

"If you completely misrespesent the logic of the position" is not the same as "by this logic". Rishi Sunak uses "Rishi Sunak". It's on his personal website. "Rishi Sunak" is not the anglicised form of his name. It's his name spelled using the Roman Alphabet. Stop being at it.

Yes. Yes I will.

Never not at it.

you make it look effortless.

No. What Isreal is doing now is infinitely closer to genocide. And your attempts to deflect and justify it are making you complicit. I don't know if it's just cognitive dissonance or what. But we're done. I am no longer willing to continue this discussion. You are not acting in good faith. So long
comment in response to post
Not necessarily. It's very tempting to assume that, because a) it's easy b) there's a statistical proponderance of them But you're forgetting how readily propaganda works and how fear shortcircuits the brain's rational processors. They're the gears of fascism, sure. But not actually fascists.

October 7th was not genocide. It was not an attempt to remove a people from a place. It was terrorism. The use of terror for political aggenda.
comment in response to post
However, there are independently confirmed deaths of hundreds of Palestinian children as a result of Israel's actions. Would you accept what Israel is doing to Palestine if Palestine were doing it to Israel. Seriously. Swap what is *actually* going on now. Is it still, hypothetically , acceptable?
comment in response to post
www.middleeasteye.net/news/israel-... Yeah. So if you're going to use misinformation, don't expect anyone who doesn't already subscribe to your misinformation to accept it. I don't know if you just don't know that you're being lied to, at this point, or if you're an agent of misinformation.
comment in response to post
October 7 was terrorism. The occupation of Gaza is nigh-genocidal pogrom. That you're trying to justify with "well they did a terrorism" As though Israel was blameless before that. And the terrorism wasn't a response to anything. It was just a thing that happened out of nowhere.
comment in response to post
Throw every man who says "Not all men" into a pit of snakes, with the same proportion of problematic snakes to non problematic as problematic men to non problematic.
comment in response to post
Do these justify genocide? If not, and I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume your answer is 'no'; why are you trying to distract with it? I am Irish love. Don't fucking bleat about terrorism to me.
comment in response to post
It distracts from the actual problems. We all know they're hypocrites. Calling out these trivial ones that don't actually matter doesn't actually matter
comment in response to post
The behaviour of Israel is what is the problem here. You are trying to leverage "well Israel's threatening with famine isn't actually murdering people *yet*" while hiding behind accusations of antisemitism. You are trying to hide Israel's evil behind claims of antisemitism. Which is repugnant.
comment in response to post
I should point out. I am not defending the individual in the photograph. He is a representative of a body that seeks to undermine world security and erode democracy everywhere. His policies are repugnant and they should be derided at every opportunity. Stop attacking his clothing. It's peurile.
comment in response to post
Can you cite a constitution-overruling law to support that, especially as you are tacitly suggesting violence as an appropriate remediation of expression you don’t like. Which is my /actual/ problem with your position.
comment in response to post
Interesting that your grandpa would focus on the legislatively suggested upholding of symbols of nationality over constitutional right to expression. Americans really need to decide if you think that rights should exist for everyone or only the people you agree with and stick to that.
comment in response to post
Also. I am struggling to understand how you think "it might take a year to starve these thousands of babies to death" is any kind of defense. Weaponisation of famine to end a people is what is unequivocally going on here. There is no defense for this. Attempts make you complicit.
comment in response to post
Please stop conflating criticism of Israel with antisemitism. It does not help your cause. Israel is undertaking a pogrom that may well end up being genocidal. Pointing this out is not a criticism of Judaism. Judaism is not repsonsible here. "Blood Libel" is not an adequate defense.
comment in response to post
Because criticism of Israel has been conflated (often in law) with antisemitism. The first is the moral duty of every free thinking individual. The second is a moral failing of bigots. This conflation is not accidental. It is wilful and by design.

Are you just a bot spamming your blog or do you think I should just read yor blog based on a contextless meaningless emoji?

Oh. Y'know. That's fair.

Right. But which is it. Are they full on adopting the "we're the scenery chewing villains" or is someone throwing shade? I can't tell.
comment in response to post
This is it. It’s the mythic truth of fascism and people need to stop misconstruing it as stupidity.

I grew up on the sound of music. Which is why I asked.

This isn't centrism, you absolute pinecone. It's a criticism of the "attacking the person and in so doing smokescreening the problem" thing that pretend leftists have going on. Centrism would be "we can meet them in the middle" not a criticism of your shitty behaviour.
comment in response to post
What was the intended tone here? Was someone being really shady and calling them Nazis or are they just full on buying into being Nazis now? It's really really hard to tell.
comment in response to post
Also. Doing so acts as a smoke screen for the much more serious behaviours that actually warrant public ridicule and scrutiny. Stop.
comment in response to post
No. It's not. It legitimises that tactic. "You can insult people who don't conform to your views, as long as you don't like the other people". That's literally all you're saying. Stop justifying this kind of behaviour.
comment in response to post
Please. For the love of god. Stop slagging them over what they wear. There are legitimate things to criticise them over. "Failure to really slay at work" is not one of them. You're distracting from the actual problems.
comment in response to post
They're not both true. Or at least Russia's interference is irrelevant. The Heritage Foundation have *always* been there. They've always been pulling strings. They've always been heavily involved in the US political scene. Look to your problems at home first.
comment in response to post
Foreign influence isn't the problem. This isn't an act of war. The enemy you are currently facing is a home grown sizeable minority of people who either are white nationalists or are comfortable with white nationalists getting their way as long as they get something out of it (or white nationalists)
comment in response to post
No. Stop that. Trump may have had backing from foreign agencies but he represents an entirely home grown white Christian nationalism problem. Trump is just a symptom of that and when you misidentify the problem like that you provide it smoke screen. Own americas problems or repeat them
comment in response to post
I think the problem with fascism is the slow boiling frog one. And they won't accept they're en route to fascism because they know that fighting it might involve personal cost.
comment in response to post
Until America ditches First Past the Post, the College of Electorates, and the two party system; another Trump is only a matter of time. The underlying system is the problem. Trump is just a symptom.
