i admit initial annoyance at replacing terms in my work like blacklist with denylist and master with main. but that was literally five years ago. i'm completely used to it now. javascript frameworks change faster than that

matt bruenig used to do a bit of retweeting people calling their refund "income tax" "yo my income tax check hit" "what are you guys spending your income tax on?"

one of the weirdest parts of having a tic disorder is how the urges feel like they're coming from "me", my sense of self. part of "me" obviously doesn't want to shout the slur, but an equally real part of "me" really really does

citing a survey on trans self-identification to make claims about rates of medical transition within that population, something the study did not measure at all, is actually quite bad!
comment in response to post
the study he links to also does not support that claim 1) it only has data for 2022, so no baseline to declare growth from 2) surveyed trans identity, not medical transition 3) explicitly says US trans population is not disproportionately white

gaming historian's video on this is real good. my favorite part: a big factor in them not shipping Japanese Mario 2 is an American warehouse employee plays it and tells them "yeah American kids are gonna hate this" youtu.be/2EUYSN5aFcE

just in case this helps: if you're getting a big gray error screen after the my.ny.gov login page and using chrome, try incognito mode or firefox. fixes it for me. no idea why but i've been having that bug for months

I recently listened to the Iraq war season. as a zoomer who was a child at the time I learned a lot. but it's not straight history, it has the Chapo smug tone and conspiracy pushing. the other host is a former Chapo producer

this kind of happened with the silicon valley commuter busses, but in the reverse order. companies just started running busses at public stops until they were forced to pay fees en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Fra...
