I never realized they weren’t mosses. How fascinating … it makes me to think of the fern “trees” in NZ.

Wow! He (assuming it is the male) would stand out in any crowd!

Definitely outdoor cooking days with this heat.

Sounds good and it’s important to state this. But how about actually implementing some of the recommendations from the Truth and Reconciliation report? They have mostly been stalled and gathering dust.

This isn’t breaking news. Breaking news would be one of these SpaceX rockets actually passed the test successfully.

So true! I thought it was just me!

Je aimerais pouvoir éditer un message BlueSky. Je vois toujours l’erreur quelques secondes trop tard.

This is amazing! Such tiny animals to travel so far.

I knew they ate baby mice but this is a first for
me too. Did it catch the bird or was it already dead!
And I did see a red squirrel raid a robin’s nest a couple of years ago but I think it was going after the eggs.

Will you ask him for a refund for the dud submarines they pawned off on us?

And meanwhile murderers and human rights abusers are being invited to the G7 by Mr Carney. Surprised Netanyahu hasn’t been invited too.

So funny to see a song sparrow considered rare! It is amazing that he made it to England.

Yes, we’ve got the June Triumvirate happening right now in the Highlands: mosquitoes, blackflies, and deer flies.

I turned off the AI summary on my searches. This makes me think I should turn it back on (but not believe what it says of course.)

What a gorgeous bird!

To be fair, if I were American I’d think twice about protesting. The reprisals by the authoritarian government forces have been pretty brutal.

Yep, it’s a phoebe. They have a very distinctive call that sounds like they’re a bit angry and shouting“phoebe phoebe phoebe”.

Yes, especially worrying as I live in the bush bordering crown land so not a lot of pesticide use nearby.

I saw my first Canadian Tiger Swallowtail a few days ago. So far just one, which is worrying. There are usually several visiting the rhododendron bush. Bees are AWOL too. 😞

Several European countries as well as Canada issued warnings in March.

First thing I noticed was how many of those countries are home to dark skinned people.

For those about to call the SPCA, I made them move into the shade after I took the photo. Unfortunately, like most collies, they loathe water so I can’t take them for a swim 🙄.

Not being snarky but don’t they mean extirpation? If it’s extinct, how are they bringing it back? From stored seeds?

Surely they’ll need a few of us to clean their toilets and pick up their garbage?

I can’t believe it! I joked that Kennedy should take those ostriches. I didn’t think he’d actually do it!

I have one of those too, and it works perfectly.

Luckily, it seems the decision to send help is up to each state not the federal government. Though I’m sure Trump will try and interfere. A big thank you to Alaska, Montana, and other states that are sending help.

Yes, those birds are just going to transmit it back to the Wildbird population. Not to mention exposing more human beings to it and increasing the risk interspecies transmission .

And I say we should just ship the birds down to Kennedy.
comment in response to

If Kennedy wants to save the birds, I say ship them down to him.

Thank you … very helpful. I volunteer at a wildlife rehab centre and we get lots of turtles that have been hit by cars. They have enormous (though slow) recuperative powers. We just released one turtle that had been with us for three years!

Sorry that should’ve said “aluminum and lumber.” not sure what’s happening with steel.
comment in response to
post
Well, as my post said the tariffs are there on aluminum and steel. And there’s still 25% on anything that’s not covered by the free trade deal.
comment in response to
post
But most of the tariffs are there for Canada including the aluminium and lumber that Biden kept and Trump increased.

I sure hope we don’t get sucked into this. We should be distancing ourselves from US shit not getting more involved in it.

I appreciate the message when taken out of context like this. Too bad the Pope’s compassion is limited to white, straight men.

And he’s still living at Stornaway at taxpayers’ expense despite not being a sitting MP. Using a loophole that allows the official opposition leader in the House (Scheer) to lend it to Poilievre.

Looks familiar. One of my dogs (a collie which are reputedly a smart breed) once stood behind a gate whining because she couldn’t get back to me on the trail. Only thing is there was no fence on either side of the gate!😁
