[Thread] The Andor Season 2 (April 22) fest I had made a huge production thread about Andor on Twitter, several hundred posts over several years. Because the people who make Andor (and showrunner Tony Gulroy in particular) often have interesting things to say. So I'm picking up the thread here. 🤟

#Dragonfire is a weird story, in that it has all the pieces of a narrative, as well as interesting characters, but it fails to coalesce into tale. It more… congeals on screen #DoctorWho

“The economic goal of tariffs can be to raise revenue or it can be to shrink imports by increasing domestic production – but it cannot be both.” Key point in this excellent FT Big Read. www.ft.com/content/ed99...

Being deeply uncool in the 90s (90s Whovian here - not kidding, DEEPLY) couldn't even kill off Doctor Who entirely, I promise you, certain sections of the audience who are inexplicably still watching (even though "I can't stand it"), can survive The Doctor being played by a fabulous queer black man.

Manchester Mill deserves enormous credit for pursuing this story, not least because of the legal threats from Lord. The Arts Council wants more than £400,000 back - money we'll likely never see again. manchestermill.co.uk/breaking-sac...

On Sunday night, our President Sir Stephen Fry won a record breaking £250,000 on celebrity Who Wants To Be A Millionaire! What an incredible performance! 👏 And we’ll definitely be spending it wisely - every penny will power our information, support and incredible network of local Minds 💙

Improving parental leave is one thing that could result in both economic growth and people feeling "better off", as in, their lives feel fairer, more grounded, more equal. It also gives off an impression that Labour understands the everyday stressors of working people. Seems a no-brainer to me

Spasmodic dysphonia is a rare neurological disorder that causes a strained voice. RFK Jr. says he has had the disorder for decades and treats it with Botox injections, a common treatment.

I’m really looking forward to today’s Money Box Live. We’re looking at disability and finances - and we have such a wide range of voices and experiences. Do listen live, just after 3

Hey, anyone in the White House Press Corps ... I'll give you $20 if you ask anyone in the Trump administration this question during a press conference (and vigorously follow up until you get an answer): Why do men have nipples?

“There are intimate moments here and there, but basically it’s just, go, go, go. It’s what I want in an action show that features the Doctor. And the beautiful thing is, I get to deal with the Daleks!” - Jo Martin on Most Wanted: https://bgfn.sh/most1

Fact-checking wasn’t “biased” against conservatives. Conservatives just shared more false content. If there’s a sportsball game and one team fouls four times as much, it’s not “biased” for the ref to call four times as many fouls against that team.

Facebook’s free speech era is off to a shaky start.

"It’s easy to imagine that front pages, laundered through...BBC coverage, can tell you what the electorate thinks. But quite often today, the only people whose opinions they reflect are the ageing minority that still buys a newspaper – or worse still, Paul Dacre" 💯 @jonnelledge.bsky.social

I am always super proud of this graph showing spending per pupil across different stages of education in England over time (from our latest annual report on education spending) It shows a massive amount of information of how public spending priorities have changed over time
