The MHRA today released new guidance for #Phage therapy in the UK. This will provide direction for scientists and researchers working to make this treatment a reality for patients. 🔬 🧪 🔗 www.gov.uk/government/n...

I keep falling in love with this little beauty. Such a brilliant piece of kit

Cool work. Prevalence of Group II Introns in Phage Genomes www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

@evolvedbiofilm.bsky.social finally made it to Bsky:) only 4 followers so far😭 #Prophage, #Bacillus, #SPbetavirus researchers, follow some news and views from #Ljubljana phage group. Recent group photo😊

Football - completed it.

🚨 Call for abstracts for the #CBNP18 🚨 We have extended abstract submission for oral presentations until this Sunday, 1st of June! If you work in the natural product field, we would love to see your work submitted at warwick.ac.uk/naturalprodu... Please Repost

Really excited to share our resource and analysis of AlphaFold-predicted monomers and homodimers across viruses and phages. Project driven by fab PhD student @rodai.bsky.social and with our great collaborators Joana Pereira @joanampereira.bsky.social and @ninjani.bsky.social

Interested in phages ? Want to work as team that will isolate, genome sequence and charachterise 1000s of phage to build a biobank . Come work with me and Martha Clokie at Leicester jobs.le.ac.uk/vacancies/va...

And thank God for Ian's gift of writing. Thank you for writing this. Brought a tear to this immigrant's eye.

If we invented forklifts, why do we need to lift all those weights in the gym manually?

I will be really annoyed if after predicted 125 hours of calculating multiple partition models, this tree is identical to the tree i produced with fasttree in 14 seconds.

Live you life so that you never get invited to Jordan Peterson's podcast.

Why can't these people be for the environment and not completely nuts on other issues?

Wait till they find out about oxygen

Just released a pre-print: www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... We simulate lipid membrane toroids of bacteria, representing the point where one cell splits into two. We see they are stable and then look at how a key protein might behave at them @crodrigueslab.bsky.social @pstansfeld.bsky.social

This study being misrepresented by antivaxers in 10...9...8...

Movie you have watched more than 6 times using gifs

After spending the last two years watching shredded children in plastic bags, watching science and medicine being dismembered in the US is probably not a huge issue for “the world”.

This is such an excellent piece of writing. I was never addicted to smoking anything and yet the writing so so good, that it allows me to relate to it nevertheless. @iandunt.bsky.social has a great ability to transfer lived experiences into text. Magnificent.

This is why I find the on/off view of biology so preposterous. It’s always a gradient, a chance that enzyme will meet a substrate, a chance that sigma factor will encounter a free promoter, etc.
