The US has been concerned for years about backdoors in Chinese hardware - including the that used for internet providers, energy and computer servers. They've found coding so bad it might be a back door in the past. If true (and for this purpose) this is most overt implanted devices.

We are excited to launch a new program in the Netherlands. The goal is to give students hands-on experience in cybersecurity, with courses like malware reverse engineering, digital forensics, and ransomware economics.

Not a big fan of some of the some of the implied messaging that there is no science and innovation, just artificial intelligence and digital innovation Will come down to how the science and innovation portfolio is divided between the existing ministers, so I await the mandate letters.

Amateurs talk about logistics and cabinet ministers, professionals talk about mandate letters

Hmmm... "Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation"

Prime Minister Mark Carney must commit to a Minister of Cyber Security as part of his cabinet suggests @cyberincontext.ca

BREAKING: Polish Prime Minister Tusk announced full certainty that the massive fire at Marywilska 44, a major wholesale center in Warsaw, was arson ordered by Russian intelligence.

Sounds like UK is getting their own CMMC/CPCSC

BUTLERIAN JIHAD POPE

Happy that this is finally public. It’s been over a year(?!) and I hope it’s aged well. An eternal thanks to Chich, @ncsc.gov.uk, and CyberThreatsUK for the opportunity. Back to our regularly scheduled ranting in a few days!

in case anyone needs it: i give you permission to bail on your mom tomorrow if your mom is a jerk.

If the U.S. focuses exclusively on these areas, who will the rest of the world free ride on for basic research?

UN Launches New Cyber-Attack Assessment Framework

New: a man 'disappeared' by ICE was not included on a government list of people deported to El Salvador's mega prison. But we found his name in a hacked flight manifest to the country. Raises questions about how much the government knows about who it is deporting www.404media.co/man-disappea...

Joseph Nye dying when American soft power is dying seems very suiting.

We did it before, we’re doing it now, and we’ll do it again. Big thanks to @beaudonelly.bsky.social @conplnk.bsky.social @koltai.bsky.social @charleymaher.bsky.social @merelzoet.bsky.social @galen.reich.me.uk

I'm getting a lot of pay day loan vibes from this.

Exclusive: Bellingcat in partnership with @tjekdet.dk , @politiken.dk and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) can reveal the identity of a key administrator behind MrDeepFakes, one of the world’s largest providers of non-consensual deepfake pornography. www.bellingcat.com/news/2025/05...

One year ago I was writing about CAFCYBERCOM and how Canadian Armed Forces military hackers are finally being given the resources and trust they need. So far this year, it's been cyber security standards governance and agile procurement in defence. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPol...

The Canadian Council of Innovators released a report called Mandate to Innovate, essentially laying out how the new government can improve innovation across Canada. www.canadianinnovators.org/content/a-ma... Shout out to @laurentdcar.bsky.social for the good work. 1/4

A video of Canadian PM Mark Carney announcing a raft of tough new measures on vehicle emissions has been viewed millions of times online, but it's digitally manipulated and fake. Carney's voice in the clip has been entirely generated with AI. He never said those words.

You know, I think they're onto something. Alberta would fair better under the governance of Quebec.

Canadian defence media is so fucking cooked. "Plane look same! Plane look same must be just as good!" www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

Yeah, it's called information confrontation and it's a core part of Russian doctrine and strategy.

AI use is not new or a Trump/Hegseth thing. Combined Joint All Domain Command and Control has always had AI and machine learning at the core of its concept.

WELL Health Technologies, a digital healthcare company, has consolidated its cyber security business into CYBERWELL to focus on cyber security of healthcare and critical infrastructure. I am honestly surprised we are not seeing more of this. financialpost.com/pmn/business...

NEW: GlobalX, the company doing many deportation flights for ICE, has been hacked. Hackers claim to have stolen flight manifest information and flight details, and have also defaced the website www.404media.co/globalx-airl...

NEW: TeleMessage, the Signal knockoff used by Mike Waltz and potentially other gov officials to archive group chats in plaintext, has suspended all services after it was hacked *at least twice.* @404media.co reported a hack last night; a different hacker also broke in and gave me evidence.

Those with non-visible disabilities like myself face some of the most difficult barriers to receiving disability status. We just don't try to save money and avoid the additional hardship.

New from 404 Media: the Signal clone the Trump administration uses was just hacked. TeleMessage makes a modified version of Signal that archives messages for government agencies, Waltz used it. A hacker got some users' messages, group chats. Hugely significant breach www.404media.co/the-signal-c...

Congrats, Bill! Bill is one of the OGs in tracking Canadian sigint cyber-related developments. Lux Ex Umbra made many of my early forays into researching Canadian cyber defence possible. Give his blog a follow or add it to your RSS feed. It is necessary reading to understand Canadian SIGINT.
