Mass car use is geometrically incompatible with great cities. Transit & bikes are the future. Tech things sometimes. Card carrying member antifa.

Let's hope it holds.

I find it cruel and nonsensical that the city is once again pushing a plan that will end up forcing some who are currently under-housed to street homelessness. On it's face, this program provides insufficient housing while explicitly taking away current shelter.

The magic phrase America needs to learn is "dedicated right-of-way," but this seems like a good way to get closer.

Modern Brownshirt shit. Does it matter if they are militia or not (and these guys don't seem to be) when they act like they are? There are other videos of this raid, it appears at least one person was assaulted and arrested for passively blocking the truck.

Use Signal. We promise, no AI clutter, and no surveillance ads, whatever the rest of the industry does. <3

VTA approved its FY25–27 budgets as deficits loom. With reserves shrinking, it plans cost cuts, higher vacancy rates, and new revenue via TODs and potential regional sales tax participation. sanjosespotlight.com/silicon-vall...

At the SFMTA Board. We are suffering through the severance of a consent item about the removal of a single parking space and the inability of one household to park in front of their driveway. Later we will likely see the Board pass legislation to push RVs out of the city.

RALLY TO SAVE BART & CALTRAIN IN SAN MATEO COUNTY Community groups and local advocates are rallying on July 1st with a clear message: San Mateo County elected officials must sign on to the regional transportation funding measure to save BART, Caltrain, and all Bay Area public transit!

Senate GOP is proposing a massive subsidy for car buyers, worth thousands of dollars off peoples’ taxes. By comparison, the federal infrastructure law subsidizes transit at the level of about $65/person/year (and gives highways ~$205/person/year).

Ahh, good, good, we positioned a well-known eschatologist as ambassador to Israel, and now he is calling for Trump to nuke Iran.

Maybe the Democrats should have thought about renormalizing the War Powers Act when they had a trifecta, not immediately before Trump possibly sleep walks into a major regional conflict in the Persian Gulf. The lack of foresight has been maddening for a decade and a half.

We must pass long term funding in San Francisco and the Bay Area next year. The endless funding crisis we've been fighting for three years now is not sustainable.

Waymos, like all drivers, treat the bike lane as buffer zone. it was only a matter of time before somebody got hurt www.mercurynews.com/2025/06/10/s...

Last week was big for the fight for public transit funding. The California State Legislature took a critical step to protect public transit in California, passing a budget deal that restores the transit operations funding which Governor Newsom has proposed to cut. 🎉

UPDATE: The Los Angeles Press Club has filed suit against the city of Los Angeles and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell in the Central District of California's federal courts over its actions toward journalists covering anti-ICE protests in recent days. /more

can’t believe this still needs to be said, but: stop following altNPS. none of them work for the NPS and they exist to do Qanon numbers station crap and sell merch. it’s annoying for a lot of us that are actually NPS. thanks

Well past time for big city mayors to call for the arrest of anyone who claims to be law enforcement but wears a mask and/or won’t identify themselves

My take on free fares: local transit should be free, but if you lack durable political support, free fares won't solve your longterm problems. Step one for healthy systems is to create a durable political majority for funding. That means great service comes first.

In San Francisco, we’re fighting for you. Our immigrant communities — including our neighbors, friends, and family, no matter where they come from —deserve to feel safe and protected.

I was sad to see my favorite writers on the SF Chronicle's editorial side, @soleilho.com and @nuala.bsky.social, leave, but now I see they left to start an independent media collective with some other great journalists. Let's go! givebutter.com/coyotemedia

Kristi Noem, Dr. Phil, and ICE went to this woman’s home in Huntington Park, CA at 6am to make a spectacle and you want me to be satisfied with @governor.ca.gov flowery words? Watch. It’s disgusting. Noem belongs in prison.
