Last February, I led a proposal submission that encompassed six months, hundreds of hours, four institutions, a massive team, and and 256 pages. NSF just informed us that the entire Biology Integration Institute program was archived and our proposal would not even be reviewed. With a form email.

Judge William G. Young, a Reagan appointee, delivered a damning assessment of the Trump administrations’ motives in targeting hundreds of NIH grants: “This represents racial discrimination and discrimination against America’s L.G.B.T.Q. community.”

"This type of crime is now possible because ICE agents insist on going around like masked thugs."

It's day two of early voting for NYC's primary election. If you're headed to the polls today, here again is our voter guide, with recommendations for Mayor, Comptroller, three Borough Presidencies, and 15 City Council seats, plus links to helpful voting info. www.streetspac.org/2025_nyc_pri...

Something I've wanted to do for a while, A better visual index to reports I've shipped over the years. reports.jehiah.cz

It took NYPD Traffic exactly 24 hours to start parking their vehicle illegally on the newly created Pedestrian Space

I won't say this about every NYPD officer because I grew up with some who are deeply moral but the culture of the NYPD is corruption. It stinks at the head and the leadership sets the tone for this culture. Parking on sidewalks is just the tip of the iceberg.

It's pretty telling that the second part of the "Mamdani is a danger to Jewish new yorkers" pitch is always "so vote for sexual harasser shitbag Italian Catholic Andrew Cuomo" and not "so vote for Jewish Progressive Brad Lander"

The thing about Cuomo is that it doesn't even seem like he actually wants to be mayor of New York, y'know? He wants a job, he wants prestige, he wants a stepping stone, he wants power, he wants "redemption". But you don't get any sense that he has any actual interest in running the city.

I retweet good data viz because it helps understand the world around us. I’m also inspired to build this chart for NYC

I just looked up #NY_LKN7844's 6 violations using @howsmydrivingny.bsky.social: howsmydrivingny.nyc/fbmnm1sy

I just looked up #NY_LRU6663's 16 violations using @howsmydrivingny.bsky.social: howsmydrivingny.nyc/leff8nc3 Crosswalks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

NYS AG Tish James and I have worked together to secure millions of dollars for New Yorkers. Her leadership in defending State law and protecting the people is crucial in rebuking Donald Trump. Being ranked #2 on her ballot is an honor!

I just looked up #NY_JCS6758's 62 violations using @howsmydrivingny.bsky.social: howsmydrivingny.nyc/c3gw43os @placardabuse.bsky.social @nypdparking.bsky.social @fdny.bsky.social

So much Brooklyn Pride last night! 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈 The rain couldn’t stop us. What a wonderful evening to celebrate a world where LGBTQ+ New Yorkers can be their free and full selves. 📸 @Beth Heller Photo

I just looked up #NY_GFD7054's 158 violations using @howsmydrivingny.bsky.social: howsmydrivingny.nyc/s74palgo These fines cover more than a decade, but almost $9k is a lot of tickets 🎫!

If we Rank Choice Vote ourselves into a Mayor Adams and then a Mayor Cuomo, I’m not going to walk away with a positive impression of that system. Please help me avoid that cruel fate! 🗳️

You’ll be too young to remember, but there was a time when you could wake up as many as three mornings in a row and not find the world had lost its fucking mind.

Come to Nobody’s Darling if you’re in Chicago and Don’t Rank Cuomo if you’re in New York.

NEW: StreetsPAC recommends that voters rank Comptroller Brad Lander first for mayor, saying his plan for safer streets and better public transit is "by far the most comprehensive blueprint ... we've ever seen from a candidate for any office." buff.ly/WgU5qEr

Say it, Bill.

I'm #1 with the @nytimes.com Opinion Panel, and hope to be #1 on your ballot.

It’s time for another NYC Mayoral Debate thread

Sadly, true

Pulling to the curb instead of blocking the bike lane isn’t always convenient

Another reason to not rank Cuomo: "Cuomo’s platform does not include extensive policies related to climate change..."

“an emergency threat to life and property” 🙄 nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/06/05/l...

Once again, Montreal is showing the rest of North America how to transform streets for people — 8 commercial streets in Montreal will be “pedestrianized” [turned into great people-places] this summer with 7.3km across 6 boroughs. Plus additional smaller sections. montreal.citynews.ca/2025/05/26/m...

Welcome aboard the Pennsylvanian en route to Pittsburgh

You have to be a real asshole to fight against bike lane projects like this in NYC. Unfortunately NYC has no shortage of assholes.

I just looked up #NY_LCC6926's 103 violations using @howsmydrivingny.bsky.social: howsmydrivingny.nyc/uvnkt1ma Wow. >$9,000 in 🎫 in 2yrs.

That’s a wrap on Parade of Trains 2025! Thank you for joining us and thank you to the fantastic crew and @mta.info NYCT! We hope you enjoyed your rides.
