I'm a tutor and I do this to my students sometimes. Not the bright light lol, but if I am proofreading an essay, I will ask them about things they talk about in the essay to see if they actually know what they wrote. You'd be amazed how often they fail.

Here is a thing that courts have known in dealing with foreign subsidiaries: The court does not have to have jurisdiction over the foreign subsidiary. If the court has jurisdiction over a US-based person that controls the foreign entity, it get order that person to use that control to do the thing.
