I fired up the Super Famicom version of PLOK! for a few, just to see if I noticed any differences. And they translated it into Japanese…until they didn’t…until they did again. I’d love to know what the hell happened here.

Ah, 2013 was a simpler time: No lawyers would’ve needed to be involved then to make this shot happen.

Dude is out there living the dream*! (*Golly! Ghost! cabinet ownership)

Taking an hour out today to rewatch the ShiftyLook Bravoman show since I suddenly remembered that was briefly a thing that existed.

Man, remember MindsEye?

You know, there are moments in Rockman & Forte that make me say, “Okay, this game is brutal AF for the first few hours, but they actually put some thought into this system or this puzzle, well done.” And then there’s this garbage. (Explanation in the Alt Text)

(Jay Sherman voice) “Hi, guy!”

Reminder that they randomly shoved a cardboard cutout of Atomic Punk into the crowd shot in the TV spot for Bill Laimbeer’s Combat Basketball.

"Describe a favorite movie in the most misleading way possible." guy gets seriously hurt on the job and is forced to go back to work

Between the lackluster reception at the time, me ranking high on the leaderboards at one time despite still having only maybe 60% of the achievements, and personally witnessing a friend flinging a controller across the room in anger, my pick is Space Giraffe, a maddening game I deeply adore.

Out of curiosity, I took a look at the Arcade Archives list and the list of Arcade games released on the Wii Virtual Console. Unless I missed something obvious, these are the only Namco games left not yet on ACA: Solvalou Starblade Cyber Sled Quester Let’s hop to it on those first three, guys!

Spinal Breakers?! FFS, slow down, I’m still dealing with Silent Debuggers over here!

The first computers we ever had were a Commodore 64 (at my mom’s) and a TI-99/4A (dad’s). The first one I remember trying was a Commodore PET at COSI in Columbus.

Shmups are a very tough genre to get right. Difficult but fair, action packed from the get go but also approachable, deep scoring mechanics beyond 'shoot stuff, don't die or bomb' When you can't spell your own game's name correctly you have to wonder if these people are up to the task (answer: no)

The Oozefoxies

A while ago, I posted a pic of Mega Drive/Genesis games released in 88-89 that had absolute bangers in terms of soundtracks. Along the same lines, it still blows my mind how rich Dungeon Explorer sounds, released mere months after the PC Engine itself. youtu.be/x_A8yySXm6o?...

Lay’s is generally a brand I consider garbage tier, but I’m not beyond sampling their experimental flavors. 10/10, would recommend.

I have a fond memory of a Japanese friend of mine introducing me to this game around 99, emphasizing above all else that I should play it because it was developed by Westone. Cool to see it’s coming back.

New Mega Man boss just dropped.

….Hello!
