Yes... It was all milk&honey before western academics and journos discovered "balkanisation"... 😉

In Jeremy Clarkson voice: Some say... That current Labour is in fact liberal conservatism 🤷

As Hannah Arendt said, the belonging is more important than the lies, even if it damages one's self interest.

It's a rich world illusion that it takes two for the violence to occur. The sooner you people realise that, the sooner you'll be able to have real resistance.

Seeing dictator Trumpf sending loyalist paramilitaries to states opposed to him gives me a strong early 90s Yugoslavia vibes. Well... If history is any guide, this will not end outside Home Depot in LA.

It's the purpose of it that matters. In NL, it's called DigiD and gives you access to all public and private services where you need to confirm your identity. And physical card with chip for when you don't have access to digital platforms (extremely rare but still...)

Finally joining the civilised world and issuing id cards. Welcome! 😂

Would you? Is this why a massive majority of Brits voted repeatedly (including last and this year) for Brexit supporting parties? Stop kidding yourself. The problem is much much bigger than some ads from nearly a decade ago.

Did I say that it's not? And evidence is everywhere. Check with your local dealer.

But of course they will use it. It's like saying cocaine distributors will stick with their original product and not move to easier to produce and sell synthetics.

75 days is of course enough to organise it. Problem is that the country nearly grinds to a halt in July and August 😊

May I suggest a saluki? Mid size (up to 20kg), great with cats and kids. People assume it needs to run 10k every day but is in fact a great couch potato. Cute face. No aggression, even a bit aloof.

3.5 years? It's kinda cute and sad at the same time that your think anything would (be allowed to) change. Dictatorships often come via peaceful means but seldom go away peacefully.

Soooo... What will happen next time when the suspect is not white middle age man? If police announce that the suspect is non-white, would it be an invitation to pogroma? It's an indicator of a sad state of UK society.

The cost of child care in NL is huge. That's why NL has one of the highest percentage of women out of workforce or working 3-4 days a week. Recently, the cost seems to be coming down, with more women going back to work and obvs earning more.

It's a transitional phase between being a former empires and giving their powers to the EU. Putin and Trump are working hard to make the EU a superstate that it wants to be. As Polish PM said, why would 500m Europeans need 300m Americans to defend them from 150m Russians? EU will be OK.

I can agree with Argentina scenario but not France or even GB. Both are still thriving democracies, with very good social protections and well functioning economies. Quality of life of and overall freedoms wise, they were ahead of the US even before Trump. The gulf is only extending.

Tariffs will make sure Chinese and Korean phones are priced out. With no labour protections in the US and factory and military being the only options for employment, the wage could be very low. Any dissent would be crushed. It's the dictatorship that's coming to the US very very fast.

I'm not saying it's a good or even a plan. But many in Trump's cabinet talk about manufacturing future for Americans. Reducing access to higher education to super wealthy will get you there. Less intl students means less money to subsidies domestic ones. And they go and make cars and iPhones...

It's self harm only if the goal is to have more highly educated citizens. But if the goal is to have more people working in factories, then reducing the number of college educated is just what's needed.

Sure. I'm not saying the loophole should remain. Just saying that once it's closed, Ireland will lose a big chunk of its tax revenues. On a positive note, it may get cheaper to rent the apartment in Dublin 🤷
comment in response to
post
So... The responsibility for closing the Irish tax loophole is with...? My guess, the US...?
comment in response to
post
Closing the Irish tax loophole needs to be done on the US, not the EU side. EU would not suffer a lot but Ireland would be royally screwed
comment in response to
post
It's not the tax avoidance in the EU. Ireland simply has lower corporate tax rate then the rest of the EU&US. Google, Microsoft, Apple and others benefit. Closing that loop would not harm the EU but would defo screw Ireland. However, the loop needs to be closed in the US, but the EU.

Fact check: no Muslims in any edition of the Bible.
Conclusion: there's no "biblical hatred" - "just" an Israeli genocide against Palestinians happening now.

Cost wise, the cost of these car parks pales in comparison to the cost of land bought/sold for HS2... But that's how UK gvmt waste it's money and then blame the foreigners. We see it...

What a pile of nonsense. But the time they finish demolishing it, the new PM Farage will cancel the deal and they'll need it again. But that's the state of UK governance these days.
comment in response to

It's all gone and well until we get to the argument that "limiting this or that, or charging extra for it..." would same things cheaper for those who don't need carry-on or in flight meal. That sort of trickle down never works, whether it's macroeconomics or indeed luggage allowance.

Sell them now, only for PM Farage to buy them back in 2028...

And then in 2028, PM Farage will spend millions to have them built again.

As United fan in my early 50s, I'm resigned to the fact that it won't happen in my lifetime. Having said that, in 6hrs we'll be rubbing it to all the haters. Again. 😂
