I’ve often wondered why publishers don’t collectively create such a platform. It would be cool if indies could do it, but the startup costs might to too big a barrier. A “Book camp” or “Book Steam” is a terrific idea.

Another reason I’m rethinking things. I’m not a “write to tropes and trends” sort of writer myself. Of course, there’s always the option of going forward as a self-published version of a micro press, understanding my audience will be small.

I may be following in your footsteps. The idea of independence is awesome, but often not what it’s cracked up to be. I’ve done well in a small press sort of way with my SFF wide, but my mysteries have had very little traction, save some sales on Amazon and B&N.
