In 2016, Sole Review took a look at Nike's income statement and came up with this breakdown. On an imaginary $100 shoe, they estimate manufacturing cost is $22. Add freight, insurance, and import taxes, they estimate it costs Nike $27 to make a pair of shoes in Asia and bring it to the US.

The headline is dreadfully misleading. She was asked if the UK should be more optimistic like Trump is about the US and she said: yes, we can be very positive about Britain’s economic future.
What else did anyone expect her to say? It’s a stupid question and an inevitable answer.

I think in the US about 30% of households had outside toilets in 1950. I think they were just more common everywhere more recently than one would expect
