Your compatriots recently released a great song about the American ethos in Trump 2.0. Everyone who can put together a cogent thought about our govt feels disconnected at best, hopeless at worst.

Corrected, ~101 sq mi is surface parking lots (about 4 Manhattans Islands) - the remainder of the above figure is on-street and garage parking. But still, 3.3 parking spaces for every vehicle in the county.

I live in LA where 200 sq mi of incorporated land is parking lots, and yet I still get the proverbial finger when I ask why YIMBYs are supporting demoing existing units instead of building up where it makes sense. Zoning reform can and should happen, but all these people see are dollar signs.

The Texas housing market is unequivocally wringing the reasoning juice out of most YIMBY brains

In 2019, avg Austin rents were lower but around the same mark as they are now, this is after spiking 60-75% during the pandemic.
If only there was a term for this sort of market phenomenon...

It's 50 mins from Memorial Park to Vermont / Sunset, roughly twice as long as driving but it saves you from writing off an entire neighborhood & seething online just because you're stuck in your car

Hot take - Big Tech is only on board for the YIMBY movement so they can co-opt the rhetoric, expand data centers and nuclear, and call anyone who objects a NIMBY

This is what happens when Big Tech funds 99% of your movement

Either phrasing works and is easy to understand unless you have a sub-elementary grasp on the language.

Is "Mike" short for "Mikhail" or something? What is wrong with your brain?

Ok, now it's looking like you are the one having trouble with their on-the-fly translations, "Mike"

Hence, "fuck you I got mine" - your lucrative experience with gig work in the past somehow gives you the authority to downplay the plight of modern gig workers. Worse, it's warped your brain into thinking that you are simultaneously acting in solidarity. Get a fucking clue, Kevin.

I guess where most YIMBYs and I start to get hung up is the means by which that happens

All I want is a stronger Mitchell-Lama 2.0 - build more, zone smarter, and prioritize social equity and sustainable permanence. Unfortunately, most YIMBYs block me at the first mention of equity or environmental compatibility.

What makes you think you have anything at all in common with a sustenance gig worker? Normally LARPing is entertaining but this is kinda sad now.
