Oh, and the acting is terrible, especially the villagers. I actually cheered when the Squire got "vaporised" he was so bad. Well, I say vapourised, he did a ridiculous pose while an unconvincing gargoyle did another ridiculous pose, there was a poxy flash & then he was gone.

An all-powerful villain defeated by "love & self-sacrifice"? All the haters would be having hissy fits if that happens in the modern era, but because it's the Pertwee era, it seems to be given a free pass! Overrated, not even the best of the season let alone the era A huge disappointment GUILTY!

He's patronising & hypercritical to her in that scene where he tells her off for she's saying about the Brig, exactly what he'd said two minutes earlier! The ending should have been Jo saying "nah, kill him, he's a **** to me!" and confusing Azal that way. Wouldn't make it any less terrible. 2/

Revered as a classic because the cast have spent the last 50 yrs telling us how they had a wonderful time making it. The characterisation of the Doctor is horrid; if he'd been less of a pompous arse in the pub, he'd have got to the dig a lot quicker. But my main issue is how horrid he is to Jo 1/

The Vanquishers has too much plot and character and not enough time to accommodate them all effectively. Swarm & Azure, in particular, get finished off rather too quickly! But the direction, acting, wit & spectacle are not to make it too disappointing I fancy some chocolate now...

Survivors of the Flux feels like a classic series part three with a lot of exposition. Also was there a need for another villain to be introduced, although Craig Parkinson is suitably sinister. Plus, the mystic is hilarious

Village of the Angels shows Chris Chibnall's strengths of how well he uses the series' big villains. Very atmospheric and well directed with a great turn from Kevin McNally

Once Upon Time doesn't really seem go far, but what there is is intriguing with the fugitive Doctor making a return. Good cliffhanger too

War of the Sontarans - finally the modern series gets them right & not as comedy stoodges. The battle scenes are epic & Sara Powell is fab as Mary Seacole. Jodie is great in her confrontation with Skaak

Halloween starts us off well, lots of mystery and the Angels sequence is exceptionally well directed (come back Jamie Magnus Stone!!) Dan gets a good intro & John Bishop makes him likeable & different enough from being a Graham clone

Nichelle gets quite a lot to do in early episodes before she gets relegated to being a space receptionist. Her flirting is matched by her challenging Spock about his lack of compassion. They should have picked up on their relationship, but not to the extent of being ex-lovers as in the later films

A BBC adaptation of PG Wodehouse's Heavy Weather on Christmas Eve (1995 or 96?) followed by an edited repeat of Morecambe & Wise's 1975 Christmas show. Complete with the continuity announced saying "it wouldn't be Christmas without Eric and Ernie!"

Absolutely. These past 2 seasons have been exceptionally good, but badly let down by finales that are all fur coat and no knickers
