Amazing: MIT researchers revealed how ChatGPT etc are destroying our brains and booby-trapped the report to expose those who want to use AI to ostensibly summarize the results. t.co/JXeTALBPds

The FDA just approved lenacapavir for HIV prevention. It costs $25 to make. Gilead is charging $28,218/year. If we were serious about ending HIV, it would be free. But Gilead’s lobbying power protects greed. This system is completely broken. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

It's hard to know what to say about Begotten; a film that features a protracted sequence of God ritually -and graphically- disembowelling himself.

I’m reading again

One of my favorite, favorite, favorite tracks of all time, Jim O'Rourke's haunting, heartbreaking, 33-minute cover of Tracey Chapman's FAST CAR (2002). www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJWx...

You feel that? How, for today, everything seems a bit less existentially terrifying, because the evil bastards aiming to destroy us have made complete and utter fucking clowns of themselves? Today is an object lesson in why ridicule is one of the most essential weapons against fascism.

The way the kid is more interested in the bird shit 🤌

UPDATE: An estimated 75,000 people marched in Chicago's 'No Kings' protest, organizers said. blockclubchicago.org/2025/06/14/c...

My goth self from now on when people ask me for writing advice:

If you're heading to a protest tomorrow, it's important to know your rights. Consult this information from the ACLU. Be peaceful. Be safe. Be careful. Be strong.

Coming out of the Buzzing About Horror Books panel at #stokercon, I not only have a stack of arcs I'm super excited about, but a whole host of other titles that are now on my TBR list.

A sneak peek at one of the ANGEL DOWN tour stops, with the Honorable @crobertcargill.bsky.social.

“The Slathering Moisture” is truly one of the great story titles in modern times

I just lost my day job to an evil twink named Big Balls so it's a great time to support my Patreon if you like short fiction or need writing advice. patreon.com/melison

I haven’t even finished the Author’s Note at the book’s opening and I’m absolutely convinced I’m going to love THE GHOST THAT ATE US by @danielkraus.com It’s fairly rare to get this sense so early, even among books that have ended up as favorites. But it’s there. And it’s incredibly exciting!

Finally finished reading a(n extremely) long series of articles about DARK INTRUDER written by Stephen Bisette in the MONSTER! fanzine, and I need everyone to see this Dick Smith makeup apparently from a 1961 TV adaptation of THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY.

If anyone has dealt with Phoenix Publishing House in Russia, let me know.

If only the New York Times had made this big of a deal in December 2022 when Trump called for “termination” of the Constitution. (That ran on Page 13. Yes, Page 13.)

Now that my reading schedule has slightly cleared up, I can return to @danielkraus.com's Angel Down. Releasing 07.29.2025. So far, I'm enjoying the lack of periods. All commas.

Yes. I would (and have) read a book about an escalator ride if it were well written.
