Danes would say that to me and my wife, as well, and I would just go “but I am an immigrant”

Most of my encounters have been in Scandinavia (where I also lived for a time). Don’t think those countries would have any interest in letting something like that happen easily

And if they do move to another country, they’ll be shocked at how they are (suddenly) considered an immigrant and subject to anti-immigrant views themselves!

My wife learned a valuable lesson yesterday morning, which is “don’t arrive at Costco at opening time”. But also, it’s a success (in part) because they don’t try to look like they’re making money

There’s a very good reason I’ve basically given up on submitting to certain conferences (Techorama included)

I dislike swearing by speakers, not because I don’t swear, but because I feel like it’s not inclusive behavior.

Unfortunately, the way to unlock/reset your MitID when you get locked out is “present yourself to Borgerservice” - it’s not the most friendly

Lived in Tårnby Kommune for 2 years - have you tried phoning SundhedsCenter Tårnby? Alternately, I’d try calling the Rådhus main number. Somebody should be able to help you. Do keep in mind the opening hours for the phone lines tend to be annoyingly short and early (usually 9-11)

Yeah - lesson learned for sure. Even the bedroom set I bought at Macy’s in 2012 has held up better (and it’s made moves from Louisville to Chicago to Denmark to Chicago). Amish stuff should be relatively easy to get in the Chicago area

I hate what’s going on in the US, but I am quite glad we live in Illinois instead of…well, a lot of other states

That sounds like cause to at least get a new advisor, even if you don’t move institutions. I’m thankful my person doesn’t talk politics beyond “this is how we’re looking at inflation”

I’m team “wife somewhat allergic to egg whites so we just don’t eat eggs”. Side note - there are some great alternatives to eggs for baking

I had a professor who was otherwise quite conservative blow someone up for suggesting the government should run like a business. His basic point was “no, government exists to serve people, not make money, and you want it to be slow to change to build confidence”.

Because neither of them are Homebrew. But also, I find Choco’s CLI much better than Winget (even though I’m perpetually annoyed by having to run it in an elevated command line)
