One of the integration by substitution is supposed to have been obviously integration by parts.

My old college used to have a convention that linked codes to classes which you could then figure out who they were (not linked to teachers).
Current one doesn't.
I think I'm going to name my classes in future. I do refer to one as "Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!" Though which they are super proud of.

So ironic that Jack and I won't be using it 😂

That's why I have a photo of it stored on my drive!
Students are the best!

Definitely! Part 2, with any luck, for the year after? 😬

Cute!
Feel like we should have a thread for the BEST student made cards. I got this one in 2011. And it's still my fav.

It depends on when we've decided to press print at our printer/distributors. They're good to go, but we want to make sure we've had chance to look through for obvious typesetting/typos!
I'm anticipating we'll be ready around the time of the MEI Conference, so maybe a month tops?

It means they focus properly on either stats or mechanics in chunks. When I moved to AQA I found the students didn't just give up on the mech, for example, because they see it as the mechanics paper.
If they've done plenty for the pure paper, they top up pure and then have focus on each applied

Yeah, academies are vat exempt 😂
But I'm not a fan of them either...
Let's just renationalise everything.

I prefer having a pure/stats and a pure/mech and a pure paper.

Thanks for looking it up.
I'm not sure if this is something that can be applied in colleges, but shall explore!

I have faith.

Let's hope our paper 3 is the usual AQA standard!

They might just be playing around the rules (a school could claim the pupils are buying them second hand).
Or they donate the calculator to the pupil. Meanwhile the pupil has donated to the school.
There'll be work arounds.

Right, that would make sense.
Still, colleges have to pay a lot of VAT!
comment in response to
post
Yep. It does my head in. As you are aware because you'll have seen my activism over all the discrepancies!
Bit sad VAT didn't make it into the funding commitments from the gov this year!
comment in response to
post
Yes. Unless schools don't fit the usual model for VAT.
Calculators aside we lose over £80,000 a year in VAT.
It's not right!

VAT is all about tax collection. The last person in the chain is the person who pays it. So if a school doesn't pay VAT, they can't charge it to pupils because they'd have to be VAT registered to pass the tax back to the gov.
Perhaps schools are a special case. I've only ever worked in colleges

Sounds like a great day. I have done similar in the past!

AQA is great in so many ways though. I have been through each specification with a fine tooth comb and despite AQAs best efforts to put us off, lean in to them every time.

The cuts have probably averaged any investment out. A lot of my post 16 kids have come from schools where they have trouble getting teachers 🤷♀️

I hadn't done the comparison yet, but that is... very similar!

Yes we're enjoying them too
(It's all the exam boards)

I've hassled our printers and distributors today!

For students, I talk about inside and outside. This is to make it as accessible as possible.
For some I would give it a more formal name (argument?)

To follow this up, our printer/distributors have the details, so we'll be looking to get it available in time for students to have it for the new academic year

It's pretty much all we do outside of work 😆

Ha as lovely as that would be, I'm not as important as Jack to get released out like that.
Shocking I know!
