Everyone contributes to the movement in the ways they see fit. Some get teargassed and shot with rubber bullets by rampaging cops, others offer notes online re: how the people getting gassed/shot might seem less deserving of getting gassed/shot to the general public. It's a coalition.

A reason im not moved by the “don’t give the trump administration the pretext they’re looking for” is that we would not dare say that about any anti-authoritarian protest movement in literally any other country

Yes every conservative social media site becomes a tropical rainforest of school shooters and Ponzi schemes but did you know that there is a left-wing social media site where people are rude to the nation’s center-right political pundits

Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)

Still waiting for the article that’s like “these right wing militia members are in a bubble and it would be healthier if they exposed themselves to left wing ideas”

Seeing a massive divide online between Angelenos of all political stripes who understand that the protests in LA yesterday were mostly peaceful and any violence was ICE-initiated and East Coast establishment liberals lecturing “the left” on how riots just amplify right wing talking points.

Don’t play into this dude’s game. You will never, ever oppose fascism in the perfectly appropriate way to please him. This is the same guy who made fun of pro-choice protesters because he thought they were overreacting since Roe would obviously never be overturned.

Seems like most people on here are anti-evil. That's the kind of insular groupthink that loses elections :/

Cannot stress enough that this is a pitiful action by a weak, scared, pathetic group of insecure, wannabe authoritarians, and they should be mocked until the end of time for wanting to bring in the military over some people protesting them at a Home Depot.

one reason for this is how few US newsrooms are willing to interview and hire immigrant and international journalists due to legal costs for work visas, and how often non-white immigrant perspectives are considered 'bias' instead of expertise

People have been sounding the alarm on serial pedophile Jared Leto for a long time but somehow major studios just kept on booking him www.the-independent.com/arts-enterta...

Stephen Miller is fulfilling his high school wet dream of terrorizing all the Brown people in Los Angeles. My daughter's friends who went to SaMo High with him said he used to seethe while the morning announcements were repeated in Spanish. Hell, they did that when I went there. (Mesozoic age.)

What's going on in LA should be a real wakeup call for folks who don't already know that a fully liberal government can still wind up a police state and without some major change to the way we talk about the militarization of policing, nothing will get better

not sure there's a more embarrassing profession than ICE agent. Oh, you dress like a soldier to abduct sous chefs and throw flashbangs at protesters? Get a real job you loser

If there was a magic pill we could administer to all braindead people with a 15% success rate of making them alive to the possibility of living for many more years. We would give it to literally everyone all the time. Wtf is this bullshit.

if Trump sells his Tesla but you only slapped a bumper sticker on yours I am going to be RUTHLESS with you

A few Democrats are urging the party to make amends with Elon Musk and using a bad take on history to make their case. New post at CAMPAIGN TRAILS on how wrong they are: campaign-trails.ghost.io/welcoming-th...

A succinct, well-argued piece. The consensus that Europe needs to drastically increase defense spending bothers me not just because it's being used to justify austerity in every other sector, but also because it makes zero intrinsic sense. The budgets are big enough! (gift link) on.ft.com/3HwHyNT

In 1936, FDR closed out his re-election campaign by bragging to a massive crowd at Madison Square Garden that “organized money” hated him “and I welcome their hatred.” He took 60% of the vote in a 523-8 electoral college landslide. FDR knew having the right enemies could be a useful thing.

I do not understand this tendency among journalists to reduce every political event to a prediction about whether it will be a lasting news cycle. On the merits, we have a billionaire who helped a fascist get into power and now believes he can dictate policy. That matters! A lot!

FDR worked with Stalin to defeat Hitler. Why won’t Democrats work with Musk to defeat Trump?
