As a vet and an MP, I’m really worried about the damage these outbreaks can do. This is a ticking time bomb. The government must act now — before it’s too late.

The experts say we need:
– A proper national plan
– Better border checks
– An expanded public health and agricultural veterinary workforce
– Long-term investment in facilities for the Animal and Plant Health Agency

Post-Brexit chaos hasn’t helped. Illegal meat imports are slipping through border checks, which are both a public health risk and could bring in animal diseases such as Foot and Mouth. www.thebureauinvestigates.com/stories/2025...

With #climate change and rising antibiotic resistance, the risks skyrocket. These outbreaks are getting more frequent, more serious — and harder to control.

Diseases like foot-and-mouth, bird flu, and African swine fever could devastate our farms and our food supply. We’ve had bird-flu outbreaks back-to-back for 5 YEARS. Our animal health systems are stretched to breaking point — with no proper plan to recover or prepare for worse.

Only 5% of live animals entering the UK are physically checked — even though the official target is 100%. That’s a gaping hole in our defences.

I referred to a UNOCHA statement that 14,000 children were at risk of starvation within 48 hours if aid was not allowed in. This figure has been clarified by the UN - 14,100 children under 5 at risk of life-threatening severe acute malnutrition over the next year.

Opportunities for young people to get outdoors and socialise are vital for mental health. Preventing issues from developing in the first place is the most cost-effective way for us to tackle the problem and improve our health service delivery.

When political leaders in positions of power don't believe in basic science - people die. Let's not experiment on the British people with any of Reform's hair brained ideas.

His next genius idea is to ruin our progress on climate change and net-zero to make Britain dependent on foreign gas and oil again - Just take a guess as to whose gas and oil we might be relying on under his watch.

Has there literally ever been a single thing anywhere in the world Farage supported that actually made life better for people?

Sees Musk, the fake Tony Stark, incompetently chainsawing public services and vital scientific institutions in America and thinks "fantastic, let's do that to our country!"

Proudly travels to America on the regular to don a red hat and lick Trump's boots - who is currently ruining global trade and destroying the US economy.
