I very much suspect that a major reason that the whole "Stepford Wife cosplay women" issue appears to be playing well with a bunch of young women is because liberals AND leftists have come increasingly close to basically ceding the entire issue of women's bodily autonomy as gross & unimportant

I do a lot of one day or single overnight business trips and I only carry a smallish duffle that fits under the seat or a medium bag that has to go overhead and I’ve never had an issue.
Definitely makes getting settled in my seat and deplaning easier.

Someone captured the Los Angeles radio scanner traffic from yesterday, where LAPD came under impact munitions fire from LA Sheriffs when both departments violently converged on peaceful protesters from two sides.

I kicked the can down the road a long time, delaying as much as I could. But now I’m paying them and I do bit of satisfaction when I get an email from credit karma or the lender saying, “you’ve paid off 5% of the loan in the past year.” I make 1 extra payment a year so I’ll pay off early.

If CA went, Oregon and Washington would follow. Nevada probably would as well. Then what’s left of the US is cut off from Pacific. Basically a 1/3rd of GDP gone and growth engine of the future.

As a former LA resident we really don’t care what Ma and Pa Suburbanite in the rest of the US thinks. Frankly, if the Pacific states broke off and either formed their own country, or joined Mexico or Canada I couldn’t pack my stuff up and move back fast enough.
Screw optics, this is a real fight.

My favorite three really good songs to start a run with are John Williams Superman Theme, Ramin Djwadi’s main Pacific Rim theme (guitar by Tom Morello), and Mandala in the Clouds by Bear McCreary (from the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack). All are great getting a workout started.

People’s political beliefs reflect the perceived expectations of their social universe, and right now everyone’s social universe is being shaped by an attention economy where the easiest way to succeed is indulgent doomerism, prejudice, and conspiracism

As someone alive during it I seem to remember very, very, very little liberal opinions in the mass media. And since there was ONLY the mass media then, it wasn’t exactly a boon for the left.
In today’s media free for all, it’d be absolutely worthless.

That’s a cool middle name, since you can’t confirm anything you should make up a good origin story for it. Something slightly crazy and exciting but believable.

i voted for obama, clinton, biden and harris and in the same situation i would do the same again. but i dont gotta pretend they did everything perfectly and frankly i wish liberalism could learn from their screw ups instead of papering over it because its hobbling us collectively going forward.

He’s grown into a nice, respectful, intellectually curious 21 year old who is a year away from graduating college on time. Plus his friend group is very diverse and he has great media literacy.
Too many parents aren’t truly invested in their kids long term development.

Because the parents are too busy seeking approval of their own kids. I read that your kids personalities are basically frozen by 5 or 6. So I made damn sure my kid learned responsibility and kindness early. I was a bit Red Forman’esque, but…
