I'm a fan of sustainability, urbanism, and wilderness. I believe in functional government, economic equality, and universal human rights.

You would hope so

True. A handful were prosecuted after being caught on camera doing exactly the kind of thing that happened in this incident.

Difficult to hold cops accountable in situations like these. Federal agents and local police alike committed countless attacks on innocent bystanders in Portland five years ago. Because their identities were concealed, few offending cops could be identified.

I mean, a member of the public would definitely be beaten, arrested, prosecuted, and likely convicted to a very long sentence if they were to shoot a "non lethal" projectile at a police officer. It is a violent assault.

a functioning democracy, you mean?

Yes, but did Trump's base know that?

But yeah. The problem I'm the military is transgender soldiers and people of color in leadership positionsπŸ™„

Good thing Trump banned immigration from a bunch of countries whose citizens pose no risk. We're all much safer now. No other actions need to be taken.

Yay. More driving. More climate change. Let's celebrate.

It's also a cult because they don't think for themselves they just take orders from media figures (social media in some cases, broadcast media in others). If Fox news figureheads started complaining about Medicaid cuts, rank and file maga folks would take the cue.

Terrible take. You're arguing against taking a stand for justice, human rights, and the rule of law because it's not politically expedient to do so. That's garbage.

It's all well and good to reuse existing buildings, but the building in the cover image is constructed of unreinforced and masonry. Unless you want to saddle the poor with big heating and cooling costs and subject them to risk in the event of an earthquake, that is not a suitable living space

Trump is a huckster and a con man. He has been successful at swaying the public because he has exploited Americans' propensity to not pay attention to news media and to distrust politicians of all stripes. Democrats should do more to sway public opinion. But not by emulating Trump's lies and deceit.

My sentiments exactly

As long as they funnel some profits to Trump, they'll get a pardon

Yeah. They want to automate subway trains. It would be fantastic. Let's find a way to provide job training to train operators or move them into bus driving positions. Sounds like a fantastic idea.

California? What are you talking about? This is a story about transit in Washington DC.
comment in response to post
Career and skills training are basic human rights. That shouldn't be tied to employment status.
comment in response to post
Automating transit is hardly union busting. Many of the best, most efficient transit systems with the shortest headways are automated.

Dude. Jonathan is not remotely racist, anti black or anti homeless. You do you, but it sounds like you're holding others to absurd standards. Save your criticism for those who are truly deserving. There are plenty.

Even if you don't get in one, they still pose a threat. You can't do anything if one of them runs you down from behind without warning.

Would you take a group of kids on the springwater? I wouldn't. I ride there semi regularly. But I wouldn't go there alone if I wasn't a large man.

Jonathan's anti homeless bias? Lol. You have to be pretty fast out on the edge of the left wing if you think that.

@tinakotek.bsky.social you better get a handle on the Oregon national guard. If you don't, Trump will.

Sad to read in Oregon live this morning that another Portland traffic death was reported. But the trend is still a massive improvement over recent years.

More likely is that big corporations will choose to employ robots instead of human workers. The robots will be owned by capitalists, not workers. There will be hundreds of millions or billions of robots. But they will replace humans, not work for them.

No uniform, no insignia, one of them is using a camera to record bystanders. Effect calculated to instill fear and confusion in any who might want to object.
