Just brutal 😭

Yep, they really did. Something they've absolutely managed to do in Frostpunk as well imo. But here they've managed to sustain that feeling for longer whereas in Frostpunk it's more the final bit where you really feel it.

Yeah they really should impress upon you how much your actions (and not just narrative ones) impact your game lol. I did quite a bit of replaying towards the final stages too just to see the different outcomes, but I want start again from scratch at one point as well.

I left everything down to the *very* last day in the final act. I was sweating 😂

Didn't know you've been playing it as well bud, awesome stuff! Glad to hear it's resonating with you in a similar way.

Well at its core it mixes survival and base management aspects from This War of Mine and Frostpunk if you've ever played those. But it also adds exploration, strong narrative, heavy choice-consequence... it's really hard to describe cleanly but I do feel you may enjoy it if you give it a go brother!

It's hard to describe #TheAlters because it transcends any label you can pin on it. It skilfully blends survival, base building and narrative elements to create something unique in the gaming landscape. 11 Bit have put out some bangers over the years, but this might be their best work yet.

Haha yeah I did that a ton with This War of Mine (that game didn't let you have separate saves so I kept restarting when one of my dudes died). Sometimes if feels like a tough learning curve and I guess it is, but the more you play it the more comfortable you feel (and addicted too in my case)

That's a good game to compare it to! Yeah, I'd probably say it mixes base mechanics similar to Fallout Shelter with survival and exploration (in 3D in this case) aspects from This War of Mine, a Frostpunk-like countdown timer and SOMA themes. It's kinda hard to pin down 😅

Ah dude sorry to hear that :( Yeah, 11 Bit games tend to have harsh death penalties which often even make you start a new save. It's the same w/ This War of Mine (community permadeath) & Frostpunk (v/ definitive fail state). It's 1 of the things I love about their games but it won't be for everyone

Yes! I hope you enjoy. I'm personally having an awesome time with it.

Man I was really interested in Rematch until I found out it was multiplayer 😭 As for GP no doubt! I'm one of those weirdos who's made a tile list of every single GP year this gen for day 1 games lol, and it's been by very far its best, even if the year ended now.

YMMV but I really don't think so. Been playing it on a 55" TV sitting not that close to it and haven't even thought about it until you mentioned it lol. You're right, it does look small in the pic but doesn't look that way in game imo. You got GP? That'd be an easy way to see if it bothers you.

Hope you have fun with it once you try it, it's been pretty unique and engaging so far! Safe travels bro 🙏

Yeah I can see you enjoying at least some of what it has to offer.

I think you might like it if you give it a go Cat!

Yeah I think you need to enjoy a couple of specific aspects to get the most from it, but so far seems worth dipping your toes in it even if just for the atmosphere imo

Lol yeah I'm usually not a fan of this art style, but if the gameplay is solid then that becomes a non-issue for me. Hopefully I'll get to it at some point this year.

Lol same, they made it look like a new IP and I was so hyped only to get COD shoved in my face. Don't get me wrong I actually enjoyed last year's COD but come on, using it as a last reveal? Don't do us dirty like that Xbox 😭

I was ready to throw pebbles at them after their 'one more thing' 😂

Love this for you bud, here's hoping that feeling never leaves you!

I really need to get to Unicorn Overlord. @arkhangel79.bsky.social turned me onto this game and since then I've heard nothing but praise from everyone. It looks the furthest thing away from what I'm normally into but I'm very intrigued.

Yeah definitely, I meant the X model

I'd be shocked if it ends up being less than $900-$1000 😭

My stupid brain doesn't normally let me take breaks between them even if I feel burned out 😭

For sure, it's not exactly fair to compare it to last year's, it was probably my favourite of the past decade. But I also feel this was probably their weakest of the entire gen, for me personally. Still it wasn't bad & there were quite a few games in it for me, just not a lot of XB 1st party stuff.

Why you Grace now I almost didn't recognise you 😭

Lol yeah, I get that. That's the problem with these Keighley shows, they drag on for way too long, plus they also show a ton of stuff that's been shown before. These days I just have 1 eye on it and jot down the name of any game I find interesting to take a closer look at it later.
