Job at Liverpool to cover Laura Gow and my teaching during our AHRC grant. It is for 3 years and 0.65 FTE. Please do get in touch if you have any questions about it. Deadline is 27th June. www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DNK247/l...

We're hiring at Umeå. The position is full professor - but don't be intimidated by the professor title - you don't have to be fancy to apply. I'd say anyone with a potentially tenureable CV has a shot (obviously fanciness is a bonus). Area is pretty open. For details see ad below:

A great and challenging paper by @dariomortini.bsky.social identifying a “folk conceptual gap between the subject matter of these experimental studies and the conceptual repertoire we can reasonably expect lay people to possess" — a (supposed) gap that applies to my earlier work. go.shr.lc/41naOx1

👏NEWS: a new paper is out by our senior member Dario Mortini @ub.edu! 🎉 📄 Epistemic Justification and the Folk Conceptual Gap Published with @cambridgeup.bsky.social ky.social 🔗 t.ly/Eb10P Huge congratulations, Dario! 👏 #Philosophy #Epistemology @logos-group.bsky.social @aphil.bsky.social

This paper is a real treat to read. I have always thought that writing philosophy is very, very hard. It feels reassuring when people who are very good at it find it hard too.

It was accepted a little while ago, but my new paper in Episteme is finally out! It’s about two topics I’ve never written on before: epistemic justification and experimental epistemology. I hope I will be able to explore them more in the future.

We lament the passing of our dear friend and colleague Francesc Perenya. Francesc was a member of LOGOS for many, many years. His commitment as a colleague and teacher, enriched the group’s life and helped LOGOS prosper. We are indebted to him and grateful for all the years we shared.

New paper! Conceptual engineers like to say that changing words or concepts will solve some ethical or societal issue, but then they can't deliver the goods. To fix this, conceptual engineers need to abandon the armchair methods they currently rely upon. link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Ending the year with another open access publication – this one is about the relations between self-knowledge, anti-luck conditions and understanding of propositions: link.springer.com/article/10.1...

Pretty (Pre) Alps.

Returning to Wolf Hall Season 2, I once again marvel at Mark Rylance’s magnetic Thomas Cromwell. Isn’t he the platonic form of a smooth operator? Hillary Mantel was a genius and I share her fascination with self made intelligent people who know exactly what buttons to press and when.

My first book is out! And you can download it for free for the next 4 weeks. It's on knowing what it is like to do something (what kind of knowledge is this, how do we acquire it, and when if ever can we share it with other people). #philsky #philosophy #epistemology doi.org/10.1017/9781...

The 2025 Euro #Xphi conference has just been announced for July 10-12 at University of East Anglia. The subfield is very friendly and supportive, and so I highly recommend the conference, especially if you are just starting out your empirical journey x-phi.uea.ac.uk/EuroX-Phi202... #philsky

Yesterday we had the pleasure of listening to Tim Williamson's public lecture at the Ateneu Barcelonès, co-organized with @biap.bsky.social BIAP. This is the excellent video made by Alex for the @filoescola.bsky.social, in Catalan

With Dario Mortini in a talk about assertion:

At some point in the recent past, I thought a journal information system was redundant as they already had my info, so didn't need to be filled out seriously.

Over the summer, @adrianaalsa.bsky.social and myself put together a blueprint for a reading group or course on Feminist Philosophy of Mind. We put a lot of our energy into this project, and now I can proudly say it's up on the DRL website! diversityreadinglist.org/blueprints/#...

I submitted something to a journal today...

This kicks off today and I'm pretty excited!

This applied epistemology bibliography looks really good, it might be helpful for some people here on Bluesky
