I got to hold an actual Olympic gold medal this morning thanks to the very wonderful Modern Pentathlete Kate French visiting Manor Park Jnr #parkrun. #inspirational

What a truly wonderful, inspiring and sometimes humbling weekend in the company of this bunch. Thanks to all the parkrun staff for making it happen and all the ambassadors for their infectious positivity.. what a buzz! 👏 #loveparkrun

Having a daughter who is a photographer and equine lover makes for some interesting days. Today I was wrangling miniature ponies in a Tudor castle 🐴🏰

@kermodeandmayo.bsky.social sorry another one.. very much enjoyed The Salt Path but found the ending very sudden, as if they (the film makers) ran out of money someway short of Lands End. Oops… SPOILER ALERT. Did we miss something??

@kermodeandmayo.bsky.social just been to see Ballerina last night. Not as bad as I was expecting from Mark’s review, although did end up like a video game with rapid fire + unlimited ammo cheat modes. TBH anything featuring John Wick would be the same!

If you ever go and see a Queen tribute act, make it this one. Marc Martel used to sing in the official Queen Extravaganza. Forget everyone else - his voice is indistinguishable from Freddie Mercury. Guess who just nabbed 2 tickets for the O2 Shepherds Bush 🥳 marcmartelmusic.com/one-vision-o...

Auntie Lilly’s 95th birthday. Born in 1930 she helped look after my dad during the war with his childhood polio rather than getting evacuated with the other children. Fiercely independent world traveller and until social isolation of COVID triggered dementia. They don’t make ‘em like they used to!

Love escaping down to Cornwall whenever possible. Happy to just sit on a bench overlooking the harbour with a coffee. I guess living here might totally spoil the magic of it, but l I’d like to test that out

Slightly muggy feeling seaside #parkrun today but returned home "the country way" as parents used to say. Some of the best Kent countryside between Canterbury and the coastal towns and in glorious sunshine too. After some much needed rain everything looking lush and green.

I'm not normally one for spooky coincidences, but on exactly the same day this week my brother and I both got nasty bloodshot left eyes. We havent seen each other for weeks and so had a good laugh this evening. The wive's both think it's the Devil's work!

What a lovely day to say goodbye to an old family friend. Fantastic weather, a cathedral full to the brim and no end of shared happy memories. A testament to a very popular much loved person and a life well lived but sadly cut short.

Going to a funeral tomorrow and probably another in a couple of weeks. Life is precious, don't waste it.

Sadly predictable result from #eurovision last night. I liked the Latvian mystical woodland people or whatever they were supposed to be.

#happyplace where the working week’s stress and anxiety is just a distant memory. #loveparkrun

So it’s #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek. Anxiety sucks. I was too embarrassed to seek help in my 20s when I really needed it and kind of just learnt to live with it without letting on. My secret cost me friendships and opportunities that I’ll never get back. If only parkrun had been around back then 💚🌳🏃

Volunteers! We need you! We’ve another week of temporary diversions and so we need at least FIVE more marshals, as well as extra hands for set up and close down. We’d love to hear from you: [email protected]

Lovely day, warm and sunny. Then a WhatsApp from an old friend to say his wife had passed away this morning, peacefully but from a very aggressive cancer only diagnosed at Christmas. Is the whole happy/sad thing just a net sum game that always balances out to zero?

Chatted to a couple of London marathoners today and feeling a bit of FOMO. Good luck to everyone for tomorrow

After finishing @pauls-h.bsky.social’a excellent book I was struck by how totally un-inevitable parkrun, as we know it, is. The happy accident of a complex and particular set of circumstances, people and choices along the way.

First early morning ride to Padstow for a Cherrytrees coffee and cake this year. The sun is about to come out too. #ProperJob

I’m so glad parkrun isn’t a race. Just imagine the kerfuffle if it was.

Spending the Easter weekend down in Kernow with my personal highlight being the Eden Project #parkrun on Saturday. Hope the rotten cold is gone by then as hopes of a PB evaporate amidst the snot. That said today…. 😍

As someone who grew up on BBC documentaries (thanks mum) it seems like there are hardly any these days. I learnt mostly useless stuff at school but from tv I learnt about everything from space science to the ancient Greeks.

Well, what else is there to do on a Sunday?! #lovejuniorparkrun

From the happy place this morning. No incidents, no drama, no problems... just 431 happy finishers and us volunteers #loveparkrun

I’m much more of a walk+listen than a sit+read person… so opted for @pauls-h.bsky.social’s audiobook version. Also I love hearing books read by the author (or Stephen Fry 🤓)

Deeply disturbed by Sam Mendes documentary #WhatTheySaw about the liberation of Nazi death camps. Chilling that 1st hand witnesses said there was nothing special about the location or people… it could have happened anywhere under similar circumstances
