I’m sure they’d be happy to die for their beliefs. They’re certainly happy to kill for them, so …

I’m prepared to admit that I’ve only tried a small sample size, but the best American wines I’ve had were … meh 🤷‍♂️ So not only are Canadians not missing anything, you’re sticking a finger up to Trump. Win-win. (Although I do feel sorry for the wine-makers themselves – provided they didn’t vote GOP)

😂😂😂 We have *much* to discuss (and drink to) on Sunday!

100%. Have had this conversation with (older) family members. “You might not agree with him, but you have to respect his opinion.” No, actually. No, I don’t. I *can*, if it’s well informed and valid, but I don’t have to.

Really proud of that series revival. And a decade later I’m still pissed that Waterstone’s wouldn’t stock them because the buyer at the time didn’t like the covers. Philistines.

I’d love to go to a Swancon, but the timing didn’t work this year. Maybe next year. You know: assuming there *is* a next year … #OnlyHalfJoking

I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you! Thanks for the update – and for gracefully ignoring the fact I autocorrected ‘book’ to ‘Bol’. What even is a Bol? 🤷‍♂️
comment in response to post
I hope this awful debacle doesn’t prevent publication of Graham Sleight’s & Adam Roberts’ Bol on the history of SF through its cover art. I’ve been really looking forward to that.

Will this be spoiler-free? I’ve only just got my copy and I need to finish two books before I read it.

Lowlander’s Dutch and Belgian Beer Cafe. On Drury Lane near the corner with Long Acre. The food is good and the beer is sensational.

Excellent point – although I’m not sure there’s anything you can say to give me a lower opinion of Miller than I already have.
comment in response to post
This does not speak well of Mrs Miller. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde: to be romantically involved with one racist sociopath could be viewed as unfortunate; to be involved with two begins to look like you’re a racist POS, too.

I would 100% end up in one of their gulags.

Yep. You need to keep constantly refreshing the team – Man City forgot to do that and, well …

BTW, congratulations on the title. Liverpool were by far the best team all season – a tribute to Klopp as much as to Slot. United, on the other hand … weren’t.

It would seem not. Pretty sure it’s not confined to toasters, either …

Something witty and yet poignant, of global import but not *too* heavy so you don’t bring the vibe down. Something lyrical and at the same time intimidatingly, surgically incisive. Or, you know, cat pics and what you had for lunch, like everyone else posts. 🤷‍♂️

No, he would not. But in the unlikely event he was, it wouldn’t have been on the Allies’ side.

Depending on what he needs from it to protect his Fourth Reich, it’s either THE sacred founding text of the nation or an inconvenient hurdle to be cleared through executive legerdemain. Schrödinger’s Document. God, I hate him so much.

I’ll be listening to the audio edition. Apparently it comes with complimentary wailing and gnashing of teeth.
