serval times a year the grandsons (13 & 15) come for multi day sleep overs mostly eating and video games and bobs burgers but they, especially the 15yr old love to just hang with us. it's the best

Yep, they keep don't shit I don't expect, but then again I don't know why I don't expect these things, still too hopeful I guess

I sometime think some of this shit is only to wind up us lefties. Then the NDP get all complainy about it then the centrists scream the NDP does nothing but complain. This has won them the last 2 elections. $10 says @naheednenshi.bsky.social takes the bait

nothing suggests sketchy deal like asking Rob Anderson for advice and then having a Facebook Live Stream instead of a press conference. Sorry, it is a private for profit health centre that will suck $ or of the public system hurting all Albertans.

it is a warning sign just because he is smarter than PP, doesn't mean his goals are not the same
comment in response to post
right better than PP for sure but doesn't his borders bill also give some pretty sketchy trump like power?
comment in response to post
Considering I'm not a political whiz I go what what smarter people have already said. Stop bitching about what we already know, give us a clear stratigy, give assurance you will fix the mess they created, and how. Most important, be willing to spend the money to fix it and future proof this province

he wants to change how the government funds essential and social services, as in privatization. Neoliberal to the core.
comment in response to post
Damn, I need some of those stickers, what do they say?
comment in response to post
just wait, his stronger borders bill has some pretty authoritarian shit buried in it.

I'd rather one that isn't a neoliberal Harper wannabe

Doesn't mean we have to let him in.

I have heard some things that leave me gobsmacked, I will take those to the grave but consider it an honour to have been trusted with them.

pretty sure Carney whispered "hold my beer"
comment in response to post
Both of these things show he is more interested in his image than doing the right thing for Canada. I realize the liberals were the only choice but I think Carney is going to make Harper look like a good guy.
comment in response to post
it could. Harper was headed this way, and Carney is showing himself to lean a bit authoritarian.
comment in response to post
Carney was not a good choice, he was just the only choice.

Like education and health care we need to poor a butt load investment to fix and rebuild. The $ needs to come from wealth taxes. Capitalism created the problem and it can't fix the problems but it sure as hell can pay for the fixes.

Social housing was never super great but before Chretien was better. Gov needs to buy/build housing specific to lower income rental (NOT MEANS TESTED) to compete with private rental. If you want or can afford more bells and whistles you go private, if you like less or make less you go social.
comment in response to post
only think in capitalists terms. So gov tries to make building affordable housing both cost effective and profitable. That would be a unicorn. Gov needs to invest, and it needs to invest a lot due to decades of cuts.
comment in response to post
unfortunately in are current society, the believe is that we can only solve problems if we can convince someone to make money on it. If it a public good like education or healthcare "efficiency" drives the bus (badly) if it is an area that straddles public good private use we can...

The reason 4 not voting isn't relevant, not voting against is a vote for. sometimes doing the right thing is hard, & centrists don't like hard. As for a well funded minority, part of their power is people believe they are a minority, they never have been. we can't win unless we recognize that
comment in response to post
do you always forget about roughly 38% (1068613) of eligible voters chose not to vote and in turn handed the UCP the election? Add that to the folks that gleefully voted for these thugs and you have a majority of albertans who are literally terrible people.
comment in response to post
My evidence is only anecdotal but two elections the majority of albertans voted for the UCP and one it was smith, a horrible person 50 plus years of con rule voting in by albertans. Albertans, IMO are some of the most disgusting people in Canada.
comment in response to post
Let's not forget the Alberta is full on conservative, even though the NDP is pretty much PC light, they aren't cruel enough for Albertans

I am tired of having no say in my own community. You make decisions based on pleasing businesses and then ignore or gaslight voters when we complain. We supported your changes, we agreed they were good for everyone. Then you took away public space and gave it to business. #yyc
