Of course they'd say that. It's still a bribe. They're giving a shiny toy to a spoiled brat man-child.

Yes, it does, but that's not the point. The point is that the Trumpist Zombie Army has been conditioned to believe that anything a Trumpist mouthpiece says is true, and evidence to the contrary is part of a global conspiracy by shadowy forces who, for some unknown reason, want to destroy the USA.

Is this a reference to both Trump and Van Gogh's ears?

What I'm saying is that the traditional concepts of masculinity and femininity are a straitjacket. They need to go. Let people be who they are.

They could run those programs without the religion. Other secular organizations do just that, but they find it harder to come by the funding without a crowd conditioned from childhood to put money in the collection basket every Sunday.

Yet, it's happening all over. A church in my town was recently sold and converted to apartments and retail/restaurant spaces. Nice to see these huge, solid buildings being useful, instead of just a place for people to reinforce each other's sense of inferiority.

Whatever you thought of the film, cut Adams some slack. "Everything I Do" is a classic love song.

What horse shit. We've been spoon-fed a concept of masculinity that glorifies gunslingers, sexual predators and bullies.

I have the complete series of books on my shelf. It takes up a couple of months to read the whole saga. I'd say you're right in the pocket at 3,300 words for a recap.

I see the declining attendance as a sign of human progress.

You're here for the paint job, but I'm here for the decommissioning of churches.

My question is, will the EU agree to take the UK back? Or, will they tell the UK that it's made its own bed and must now lie in it?

Conspiracy theory is now public policy, in the service of personal spite and revenge.

It makes sense when you consider that buying out the US government was part of Putin's strategy.

Be glad for your kids. When they wind up with engineering jobs that they enjoy, this will make sense.

I think it was Mark Twain who said that it was safe to predict wars, plagues and famines, because you were bound to be right sooner or later.

I hope you stopped into the bakery too. It's a favorite destination for motorcyclists in the area.

The burden of proof is on the one making the statement. I could claim that the universe was created when Harpo Marx ate a pineapple pizza, and no one is obliged to disprove it. If I make the claim, it's up to me to support it with verifiable evidence.

A perhaps is not a fact. Show scientifically verifiable evidence, if you want to establish fact.

I urge everyone to file a complaint with Google Maps over this.

I took up poetry at the age of 64 because I needed an outlet for my feelings after my wife's death. It was therapy, but now it's joy in creating word pictures.

Everybody's got their own thing. The key is realizing that others don't have to like what we like. There's enough flavors out there that everyone can find one they enjoy.

"Jessica" is probably some unwashed punk in his Mom's basement, hoping you'll be stupid enough to pay an application fee.

No matter who they book for half time, someone will complain. There's no way to pick a single act that will please everyone.

When will people learn that the Constitution does not matter to Trump. He thinks he was elected King, and now he's signing anything his puppet masters put in front of him. His MO has always been to screw people over and then dare them to sue, knowing he can drag it out and bankrupt opponents.

Too true. When I go back over poetry I've written, a significant percentage falls into the category of "WTF was I thinking?"
We only show the world the good stuff. Every creative person has a stack of screwups.

You'd be the first Bond who was not a horrible role model for young men. So, there's that.
However, the franchise is worn out. It needs a new twist. How about your Bond having a time machine, with assignments to go back and correct history?

True, but in practical terms, what am I to do with my life? I'm going to dance. I'm going to try new restaurants and discover new flavors. I'm going to help my neighbors.
What I'm not going to do is agonize over unprovable possibilities.

Consider this: No one is going to get a Federal job unless they worship Trump. That's the kind of law school grad who will become and Assistant US Attorney -- one who will use the office to further the Trumpist agenda.

Does this also mean a freeze on subsidies to the oil industry, and suspension of the Muskrat's federal funding? I doubt it. Trump would starve a hundred White families just to deprive one Black family.

It's all part of the reality TV style political drama that takes voters' attention away from the real issues.

Perceptions change, but seldom overnight. Having an Oscar still helps industry people get better job offers. The entertainment industry is all gig economy, with actors, writers and directors competing for limited studio attention. That Oscar still weighs with the guys who do the hiring.
comment in response to

The Oscars, like all industry awards shows, have little to do with the actual quality of performances. Studios pimp their wares like crazy to get a statuette, because it leads to more revenue. It's all politics for profit.
Awards shows are how the entertainment industry masturbates.

Good thing I've discovered the secret to a happy life -- not caring what others think of me. I've been looked down on by experts, and could not care less.

I want to make sure you know something important about me.
I truly believe that making pronouncements that try to dictate others' behavior is pointless. Whilst you're laying down the law, don't tell me I can't have pineapple on my pizza.

The plain fact is that everyone brought up in the Eurocentric Western tradition has been indoctrinated since childhood. It's hard to overcome that, especially when you've been taught to believe that even questioning it leads to burning for eternity.

I read my work at a poetry open mic, and was amazed when told that I'd taken 2nd place. The organizer was amazed in turn when I refused the cash prize, because I don't write for money. I write for myself, and hope that sharing my brain fragments will get others to think a bit.
