Meh, some banal stuff about me. I like books, music, hockey, 'mingos, my grandchildren and tech. I am on Mastodon as @[email protected]. I am "watched the moon landing live" years old

When you want to unban asbestos and ban books, you ARE the problem.

My blood pressure and heart rate are lower than they were a year ago. My digestive system is working better than it was a year ago. In some ways I'm healthier than I was a year ago. No matter what disease you have, caring for yourself does matter, and it does help.

We all die. What matters is how we live. Enjoy life. Be someone you would love. Make things better. Do these three things and when death comes for you, you won't feel angry or cheated or defeated. You'll be sad, but you'll know you lived a good life and that you were not exempt from its ending.

For real if any of my death announcements refer to my "losing" a "battle" as though death is for losers only, I am going to come back as a ghost to specifically haunt and curse that person and make them lose everything they compete in forever and also sexually impotent

In case anyone is keeping track I am still never gonna call posts "skeets" or reposts "reskeets" and am gonna wince a little every time someone else does. Just, y'know, FYI

Who let Schrödinger have a cat in the first place?

Got in a short hike/walk(?) today. This is the only pic I took:

It's ok to have been tricked by a politician, or a media personality, or "news" outlets with agendas. We're all human, with busy lives and tons to juggle. Sometimes we get fooled. The next part is key: what are you going to do about it now that you know the reality? Don't let them fool you twice.

It takes courage & strength to stand up & speak out. But you'll sleep well at night, knowing your heart & mind speak truth & respect & kindness. And, maybe it'll allow someone else to sleep well at night, knowing you have their back. #WednesdayWisdom #DailyPositivity #BeAGoodHuman

Whatever you do today, I hope it is done with intention, inspiration, weirdness, eccentricity, and a soupçon of spite.

One thing I absolutely must thank my heaven-sent DnD group for is that it has taught me what a social interaction or a group creative activity should feel like, and that the "norm" for me was not the only way things could be.

We should all treat one another the way some people treat me, knowing I don't have long left. Giving benefit of doubt, letting irritations go, finding ways to be kind unexpectedly, remembering to name the things we love about each other. None of us have forever, and you really do never know when.

Sometimes the key to mental health is simply being old enough to remember that every time you thought something was the end of the world and no further happiness would be possible, you were wrong.

The tin soldiers are coming.

I keep finding myself in the position of soothing the anxieties of people who do not live in my city about the things that are going on in my city. I keep wondering about all the things they could be doing with that energy to help their own cities.

A lily for all you goths out there.

Day 140/1,461 of replacing the terrible news on your feed with beautiful #photography 📸 📍 Portland OR (a bonus one because today has been terrible news overload)

Absolutely heard this in HAL voice. New Google AI features have arrived, Mishell. "But I don't want them? Please disable them." I'm sorry, Mishell. I'm afraid I can't do that.

California should secede this time

Newsflash: There is not a single American citizen who does not benefit in some way from the labor of undocumented people. Period.

3 hour zoom meetings are against the Geneva convention

One of the quickest ways to make yourself mad is to think about all the things that other people SHOULD be doing. This leads nowhere. You have control over two things: -What you do -How you respond to what others do. That's it. Truly, DEEPLY understanding this is crucial for mental health.

I love xscreensaver (thank you, jwz!) but After Dark 2.0 is the greatest screensaver of all time.

Be the angry, seething underbelly you want to see in the world.
