Bad Sidewalk Behavior: Your orange peel isn't going to compost nicely next to that street tree. It's one of nature's most impenetrable barriers, girded with fungicide and insecticide. It'll be there forever. Find a bin or throw it in the street, where at least it'll be swept up in a week or two.

TIL of the mountain beaver, actually a burrowing, branch-gnawing relative of the squirrel. Its 'primitive' kidneys can't concentrate urine, so it constantly drinks and excretes water. It needs a wet habitat: Point Reyes, Point Arena & the Sierras in CA, OR & WA. It has its own species of giant flea.
