There are big challenges - no doubt. The question I have on the ask for enforcement is, where will people go? & expansion of treatment is much needed, but after, where will people go? When the answer is available is when real positive change will take root. #housing #health #bcpoli #yyj

Jailing their political opponents, turning the military on their own citizens. America is a fascist state.

Low vacancy rates mean bigger rent increases. And vice versa. Bottom line: for more affordability we need to allow more homes. I'm firmly committed to that. More here: davethompsonvictoria.ca/new-homes-va... #urbanism #affordability #housing #yyj

Kamala Harris was 100% right... again

Hey friendly Governors, and others trying to lure Canadians to travel in the United States. This is one of many reasons why we regard that as a bad idea. Fix your problems with your country sliding into fascism. Then ask us. #elbowsup

America is the enemy of democracy and freedom.

You know those B.C. municipalities where the mayor and council investigate and sue each other in a neverending cycle of dysfunction while locals wait for a general election that could take years? The province says they want to put an end to that.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

Canada is on fire. The national media is focused on building pipelines for national unity. Oil production is at record levels. We are back of the pack in the G7 for failing all our environmental goals. My latest on Canada's oil obsession. charlieangus.substack.com/p/burn-the-p...

two rivians at school drop off this morning - and the only thing I could think of was that it represents the embodied carbon equivalent of more than one electric cargo bike for *every* family at our school electric SUVs ain't green, folks

When we shift to active travel, we don't just reduce the emissions from our trips: we're more likely to also change the frequency and duration (destination) of the trips...

A leading candidate for New York City mayor wants free local bus fares. But studies have repeatedly shown that any money you spent on that would be more productively spent on better service. 1/ www.cityandstateny.com/politics/202...

I find it sooo depressing that this idea is still has to be explained to people, 30+ years after advocacy for sustainable urbanism first took off.

Great article on the need for urban density for climate action and housing + transportation affordability. From Sierra Club. www.sierraclub.org/minnesota/bl... #urbanism #climateaction #bcpoli

Psst…the only way to stop climate change is to stop burning fossil fuels. Pass it on.
