Thankfully, most books I read take me much longer than two hours to read.

The military parade failure is a perfect example of how you deal with a troll president: you ignore the provocation (the parade was designed to provoke) and throw a better party elsewhere (the No King protests). With no one to fight, the troll just sits sad. This is "block and move on" in real life.

I need my colleagues across news media to get it, and get it quick, that this administration is quite happy when we see ourselves as neutral, dignified remote observers of a "culture war."
It is a framing that trivializes their very real violence in order to make it acceptable.

And that's not even to talk about how genAI is part of a global political project of expansion and extractivism exploiting and devaluing human labor and wasting natural resources on an unprecedented scale – a project that has allied itself with authoritarian politics for good reason ...

The contract on violence in America upholds that, first and foremost, it is white men who have the unquestionable right to use violence.
And this violence is not to defend people, but to defend who and what they view as their property.

Now, the Trump administration is once again weaponizing the language of antisemitism and national security as craven cover over these racist, xenophobic and authoritarian policies. Absolutely not!

A time when Nazi-saluting white supremacist Soros-conspiracists in charge of the US are allied with a fascist Israeli gov’t & are using false claims of antisemitism to suppress civil rights (opposed by 70%+ of US Jews) is exactly when credible experts on antisemitism to explain would be helpful!

AI image generation fuses mediocrity with power – it's the aesthetic & political triumph of the ordinary and predictable. It's non-exclusive in terms of use (anyone can generate images), but highly exclusionary in terms of representation, making it the perfect tool for crowdsourcing propaganda
