i think it's ok if you're just waking up to this for the first time now — there are many ways our society is set up to convince you this heinous shit is inevitable but if you're waking up to it for the second, third, fourth time, ask yourself: why do you end up constantly falling back asleep?

Whatever tactics you, your friends and communities choose — there's a range — that's what you're up against. There is no protest nice enough that those in power will go "sorry about that, we won't be oppressive anymore." The question is what actually challenges their power in ways they can't stop.

Cops teargassed my whole neighborhood, including parents holding children, to crush anti-racist protests. The mayor claimed a mere list of Black people killed by the police was actually a death threat against her personally. Their definition of "peaceful" is "totally obedient and powerless"

I got into the press conference and tried to grill him, but he was really experienced at evasion. Still absolutely worth a try.

You’re at a protest and saw someone do something that you don’t approve of, that might get them in trouble with the cops? No you didn’t. Mind your business.

If you are committed to nonviolence and peacefully protesting, that is fine. If you are not interested in either, that is fine. People are autonomous beings and make their decisions accordingly. You are responsible for yours. Trying to police other protestors’ behavior is just being a fucking cop.
