Does this apply to Royal/gosdip columnists and “sources close to the family” which I have always assumed to be made up? I guess calling some of them “journalists” is a stretch…

I lived in a student rental in Leyton, started to go out of interest and then to every home game - long since moved away but still follow the ups and downs of the club!

That has always been the case of course and is why checks and balances exist, for instance in the UK Judges are not political appointments for that reason, it is also why the likes of Trump are so dangerous in dismantling those checks and balances.

Anything that applies to all can never be political interference!

I see what you’re saying and why but I can’t help thinking someone convicted of being involved in embezzling what are effectively public funds, should be disqualified from high office no matter what their political views!

I’ve just seen what prompted the post! That’s such a shame, and that the buyers value the name so poorly that they propose changing it to something made up

A KC appointed on Friday having had no evidence sent to them does not, I think equate to proof that there is no credible evidence 🤔

One of the 80s rock bands
(Van Halen?) had “m&ms with the purple ones taken out” on their rider, later saying that was to see if anyone actually read it!

Also agreed way too much death and destruction continues to be inflicted in the name of religion- on all sides - kinda feel the same way about nations!

Absolutely but still my original point (if a bit glib) was if we know when Jesus died/resurrected then we know the date so no need to move, unless it’s politically convenient to link originally with Passover and later Pagan festivals. Not sure we’re going to agree so happy Christmas/Yule/Hannukah!

I was broadly aware from Jewish friends but I hadn’t realised the full reason for the movement of “Easter” - which makes sense - however the point remains that the Pagan Eostre or spring festivals (possibly also full moon related) have been co opted in the same way as Christmas and Yule

I thought the Jews celebrate Passover (being their escape from Egypt and not Jesus’ resurrection) and not “easter”? Kind of makes the point, the very word Easter derives from the Saxon “Eostre” being a Germanic spring Goddess and nothing to do with Jewish or Christian rituals originally.

Including why, if it’s verifiable date like someone’s death (and resurrection as they believe) the date changes each year as though it’s connected to a natural event such as full moon or the like?

I used to work in the court system, a professional colleague called me “Richard” rather than My actual name (David) I assume because of Richard Lester the film director. It became too embarrassing to correct him and went on for years!
