I notice that already. People are happy to be just a probabilistic average.

Because of how cluttered it is. I think it’s powerful but it feels like 10 different tools inside 1, all with novel interaction patterns, when it comes to design tools.

How do you even know?

I really like corner, but I wish it had a little less "attitude" in its design choices.

Masters or PhD in design makes little difference on pay in case you are an individual contributor. Quality of work and experience has a much larger impact. I’d only go back to school if I wanted to change fields.

I dislike slack just as much 😅 Actually I really hate how everyone is forced to deal with overcommunication on what feels like mIRC chat rooms. At least email forced people to be thoughtful and clear.

You can love and hate it at the same time. And I think most creative people are that conflicted. For the most part, the good is a consequence of the bad.

Design feels a bit outdated, but I still save some stuff to Flipboard. It’s free, and works fine.

I don’t know. Maybe when we crack infinite energy. At the moment most of these companies are incurring huge losses with their AI businesses; I believe they will keep charging.

Using a CMOS sensor does not make sense nowadays. I think that could be the reason why it produces phone quality images.

That, posts' highlight tab, and being able to check everyone's profiles and what they've been up to.

They look great

The original half frame is a delight, though. I still have a Fujica (Fujifilm) Half Frame in good condition.

Yup, any second hand camera released in the past 5-10y (if not more) is better than this.

Even for those employed it gets stressful. I never had a break from work, even when changing jobs. There is always an underlying fear that if you stop for too long you will end up missing the train.

Yup, fair point. Also, I think Sam Altman prioritizes his own interests, so I suspect that if the category gets more and more crowded, as soon as his first physical product flops, heads are gonna roll. And industrial design will go with it.

I don’t think this is going to go great. I don’t really trust that OpenAI, under Sam Altman, has a culture that allows great industrial design to foster.

Agree 100%

Sentient Salads could be the name of a salad-restaurant chain.

I believe this is a systemic consequence of wars and economic "uncertainty". People like to blame others, and far-right plays into that: we could be great, if not for: immigration, corruption, social benefits, everyone else, but us.

3. The others feel like commonplaces when it comes to AI. But there's something still not quite right with the alignment.

In general, after reading informed opinions pieces about an album I tend to have a better listening experience.

For sure. I would even frame my favorite covers of a specific newspaper 😅

I can’t remember the exact reason, but Mike Smith wrote about it somewhere. Anyway, I think it gave them exposure.

I really enjoy how Smith & Diction do it. Especially their case for Alma, where they share experiments, failures, etc. Their cases feel very honest.

In the past, I used to buy music magazines. Now I follow music bloggers on substack that cover genres I like. Also, I too use record club and NTS.

They’re falling into the same trap as Apple when it comes to forcing themselves to release unfinished things on a set schedule.

Peter Thiel, Marc Andreessen, and Co weaponizing politics…

This is crazy. What about radio shows hosted on SoundCloud where the artists are unaware that their music is even included? 🤯

Yup, if you ignore the new standards, it’s ironic that we’re now at the point we were at in 2007 or so.
