Just *imagine* (if you will) the fk-ups these people will be responsible for if they ever get their hands on the levers of power...almost makes you proud to the British (almost)...😂

My *get the fk out of Dodge and retire to Ireland when I hit 67 in May 2029* looks like an extremely wise policy. Onwards to Irish citizenship five years after that too...

The (ludicrous) commentators on the Telegraph are speculating that English folk are leaving the UK because *taxes*...no guys, it's because you stole opportunities from *us* - and this is why we despise you...

Not *lost* merely *delayed* (in the sense that I'm emigrating to Ireland) post retirement, and (hopefully) regaining my European citizenship after five years...Labour is pandering to the wrong people...and their strategic choices will come back to bite them...

2/ The Brexit vote destroyed my long held dream of retiring to Spain...(a reward, I thought, for a lifetime of work in local journalism, where the money is rubbish)...When Labour betrayed me, I thought *fk em, just fk em* - I have not recanted from that view...

1/ A little bit about me. I (of course) voted *Remain* in 2016. I'm a (so called) *middle class* professional - although, being a local journalist for years does not mean *pay* is any good (spoiler, it is not)...

Well, yes. This is why I'm emigrating to Ireland when I retire (63 now) with the hope of gaining Irish citizenship after five years of *reckonable residency* - England can then go fk itself quite frankly...

Oh great...why didn't the folks in 1946/47 not listen to the *Anglo-Indian* community (who, very *on-point*) were dead set against partition...honourable mention to Frank Anthony from the Anglo Indian community over this (he died in the 90s from memory)...

2/I live on my own in a flat and my dad is (very) elderly now (89 this year) and he can't climb stairs. So 63-year-old me has (finally) had to learn how to use a drill (what's this thing called a *chuck?*)...don't judge me...😂

1/True story incoming...my dad was a factory worker (he's retired now) and could do literally anything with his hands. Bricklaying, no problem, plastering (I laugh at you), rewiring a boat (in your face boat rewiring)...his son (me) however was useless...

One of the (most) amusing things as a citizen of a (former) empire (the Brits *won* btw Marie, see 1815 for deets) is that we all have to come to terms with this. The Ruskies (have not) the Yanks (don't even know what we are talking about, they don't do history) China? (fkd over by the Brits)

*New France* of course, had absolutely nothing to do with all that nonsense...and Napoleon had *nothing to do with* the *Louisina Purchase* - nope - nothing at all...

Going to Boston (as a Brit) - the birthplace of the American revolution, it was strangely gratifying to see the city's old state house with The Lion and the Unicorn crest still displayed outside. I must admit to chuckling inwardly at that.

Great to hear you clear your throat on this one James. My view is clear. I'm 63. I'm close to retirement. I'm moving to Ireland when I do and after five years of *reckonable residency* will apply for, and hopefully get, Irish citizenship. I have lost faith in this administration.

Not only that but would Europeans *really* want to come to the UK in their droves after the fuss the Brits kicked up about FoM last time?

I lost my lovely Milliecat in November last year (Sunday, November 17, at 3.10pm after the vet came round and helped her to sleep). And yes, it *is* hard to lose them...as you might have gathered from my post. It's going to be quite some time before I even think about getting another one...

When I was a cub journo (way back in the early 90s) I got to interview Zippy, Bungle and George as they were appearing in a panto...(true story). A very surreal experience, even over the phone (or perhaps *especially* over the phone).

Thing *is* when you are the first in your family to go to university (dad being a factory worker, mum being a secretary), and have no professional background (of any sort) - life tends to be weird (as it is for all pioneers)...

Cats. I lost my (beloved) Milliecat in November last year. I'm (just about) at the stage where I might, possibly consider getting a new one? But it could well be a *Maine Coon* (which is a whole new ball of wax)...😎

You think you've got problems Marie. My (63-year-old) *Anglo Indian* friend grew up in the UK in the 1970s...the shite she had to put up with has to be heard to be believed (her family moved to Thamesmead in the late 1960s if that helps)...a hellhole.

Agreed. There are times (obviously) when it is important...and other times when it's not important...Important: rape crisis centres, sports, prisons, Lesbian dating apps, *Unimportant* - rights at work the right to *not* be discriminated against for how you dress, access services, promotions etc...

*Because* (as much as you may argue otherwise) trans women are not *women* (the clue is in the name)...see?
comment in response to

No I'm not. I'm saying that women deserve their own spaces...free of men. And that incudes in prisons, sports, rape crisis centres and Lesbian dating apps...

I *suppose* what you might be saying is that his views on the *trans* debate sparked his (very own) transition to the radical right? That may well be true (although I think it's likely they were always there, seeing as his past is in apartheid SA growing up).
comment in response to

I don't think it is though. Sure, he has *views* on *trans women* (due to his son) but his views are a curious hotch potch of libertarianism and oddball, far right, ideology because he spends *way* too much time online with the radical right.

But let's just *dial it down* a tad. All people like me are saying is that in *certain* situations and in *certain* places (women's sports, prisons, rape crisis centres etc) - biology *matters* - see?
comment in response to

Read what I said. I find Musk an idiot and his views on the vast majority of things ridiculous. I found Hitler a fascist and a bigot. (but I think vegetarianism is a good thing)...It is possible to say that biology matters and not be a Musk supporter, and be a vegan and think Hitler was vile. See?
comment in response to
post
Curiously, I share the same views about vegetarianism as Herr Hitler had...but that *really does not mean* I share his views on other subjects...quite emphatically not. That's a silly argument mate.
comment in response to

Agreed. Have been banging on about this for quite some time...(Namely, biological sex *matters* in a number of areas)...to deny that is to deny reality.
comment in response to

Hmmmm...I (sort of) agree with this. *But* I spent nearly two years jobless and most of my personal relationships came from work so I (tended) to end up isolated (who wants a mate constantly moaning about being on the dole?)...
