computer science is about a lot more than coding. unfortunately computer science is not longer appreciated as important by under skilled manager types who think code monkeys are the solution to every problem. sadly, a CS grad who studied hard has a lot of skills they won’t be allowed to use at work

I think a big difference between the dotcom bust and now is that the people who got into computer careers in the 1990s were generally also enthusiasts and hobbyists in addition to making a career out of it, and today a LOT of kids just went into it because they wanted to be rich. actually we do know, as trump motivated large numbers of nonvoters to come out and support him. we also have surveys of nonvoters that show they are not some hidden cache of left voters. and issue surveys aren’t a reliable guide to what might motivate a cross section of the public.

Don't know if I am a progressive, far left progs would call me a liberal derogatorily, but it is not derogatory to me. I would say I go from center left to left without being far left
