Get your cops under control. I didn't join the Army to defend your right to tear gas protesters.
I've watched a lot of live footage from your city, and it seems to me that your police are the ones instigating violence.
Serve the fucking people, and stop letting them gas peaceful protesters.

Protesting in uniform is so powerful. Proud of these veterans for taking a stand.

There's still an ongoing standoff. The sun is coming up outside my house, and the birds are starting up, so I'm gonna stop the thread here.

Keep watching the @statuscoupnews.bsky.social stream, this thread was just a text recap with images taken from the stream.

ICE can't open the gate because they drove over the wrong part of the gate.

While things are slow, gonna pump the protests this weekend.

Heckling is an understatement. One protester asked "How much are you going to beat your wife when you get home." A lot of calls for agents to ditch the masks.
The situation seems to alternate between the ICE agents milling about behind the gate, to them lining up as if they plan to push out.

The stalemate is continuing, with protesters heckling the ICE agents on the other side of the fence.

Protesters are now setting up to block a van from exiting the facility. Police have set up across the street from Delaney Hall. Protesters mocked the agents, and began chanting "Nazis out of Newark"

The bagpipes have started up again. Law enforcement has arrived onscene again. Newark Police department showed up with 3 marked cars so far.

A lot of milling about from both sides.

Protesters are now adding barricades to block vehicles from driving up the grass embankment.

Police and ICE were employing bright flashlights and strobes to attempt to disorient the protesters during the standoff. One protester told them "turn that shit off, bro"
comment in response to

One of the vehicles in question made it past the protesters by driving up a dirt patch to the left of the gate. Another vehicle approached from the right at speed, startling the protesters. Protesters reacted by reforming their blockade, but not before the vehicles entered the facility.

ICE and protesters got into a brief scuffle when ICE shoved protesters out of the way, clearing room for a couple of vehicles.
Officers and protesters are now in a standoff with ICE and police.
ICE has since closed the gate to the facility again, seperating them from the protesters.

I stand corrected, we have credible reports of tear gas being deployed inside.

At this time, I have not found a secondary source to confirm the reports of riots or uprising at Delaney Hall, so please be responsible and confirm claims coming from a single source before reporting them as gospel.
I've tried to confirm by calling Senator Kim's office, got voicemail on all 3 lines
comment in response to

Farina is now interviewing a protester who claims to have called Senator Andy Kim and confirmed the reports of riots or uprising inside. Allegedly, the uprising started because people inside were only receiving two meals per day, and it was as little as a few slices of bread, or ramen noodles.

Sherriff's Department is now leaving the scene. A protester with a megaphone stated it was "due to causing a traffic jam".

The feed appeared to show FBI agents masked and wearing vests inside an unmarked, or inconspicuosly marked vehicle.

Hudson County Sherriff Department is on the scene with about 10 cars from what I've seen on the livestream. Jon Farina is also reporting possible FBI on the scene.
Not sure why this joker has an M4 for dealing with unarmed American citizens, but I guess that's where we're at now.

Oh my god, that's insane. Ordering troops into the streets, mistreating them, and then not paying them is ludicrous.
Sure, lets put them in a moral crisis with no moral support. I'm sure that's great for getting soldiers to follow orders.

The day you point your rifle at an American citizen on the streets is the day you betray your country.
Don't betray your oath.

Powerful words. It's important to remember the oath we took, who it was to, what it represented.
I hope that those who understand that oath hear your words and take them to heart.
Take a stand and do what's right. Extra Duty is better than living with the consequences of treason.

Well said. I'm so tired of the "distraction" rhetoric. It's not a distraction, it's part of the agenda. Fight or don't, but I'm so tired of hearing that whatever is happening isn't strategically important.

This is footage from the April 5th protests, not the ones yesterday.

If politicians had been organizing communities this whole time instead of sitting on their hands, they could respond to the crisis their way.
They left it to the people to organize and respond; the people will respond in their own way.

I hate that saying. What is DT distracting us from? The dismantling of our constitutional protections? A de facto suspension of habeas corpus?
The sending of marines to Los Angeles is a stepping stone on the way to a dictatorship, not a distraction from it.

All it took was Nancy Pelosi defending stock trading in Congress for me to know that Democrats aren't on our side. Who voted to bail out the banks in 2008?
They aren't our fucking friends. They're just the liberal left boot.
They are going to let the country die for bipartisanship at this rate.

Are these the people still screaming that "everything would have been better if ______ would have been elected" and blaming random people online for blue politicians sucking at their jobs for decades?

Schumer must be *baffled* that some politicians post heat and get support on social media.
Chuck, if you're reading this, you sold us down the river for months. You're going to have to do something drastic to get folks behind you again.
Do something. Then you can take your victory lap.

I actually did that when I still worked. I had a rule that I had to get completely ready for work, and if I still wasn't "feeling it", I would call out and go back to bed.
Told my bosses about it when I quit a few years later, even they agreed it was fair. Some days, it's just not happening.

Can we get updates here as well? Would love to hear how the second day has been going. I'm not on instagram, either, so it makes it hard to see from the outside. Been trying to see how things are going today.
Hope everything is well. Scary times require brave actions. Like building a protest camp.
