I am indeed a real person. But that's just what all the bots would say, so it's up to you to believe me or not. Interested in AFL, Science, Music, D&D, and pretending not to care about politics in Australia, UK, Europe, America, though I really do care.

Hoo boy, the Coalition has collapsed. Yes they will probably reform before the next election, but this is still very significant. It will give the Nats a chance to go further right, and the Libs a chance to moderate, assuming Ley doesn't get rolled www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05...

Murdoch media flags an “exclusive” saying Yallourn #coal plant will be kept open another four years. The plant owner, AEMO, and the state government say that is not true

The Aus media section with a truly crushing caption. Poor @amyremeikis.bsky.social how will she ever recover from... *checks notes*... being critical of Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.

Friends with benefits: the ideological love-in between billionaire Gina Rinehart and aspiring prime minister Peter Dutton 🎧 Read the story, then listen to a teaser of our new narrative podcast series: Gina www.theguardian.com/p/xxn6fv?CMP...

#Energy consumer advocates say proposed electricity price hikes under DMO highlight the need for stronger consumer protections and greater investment in renewable energy

@rbreich.bsky.social this seems like one of those things that flies under the radar but is actually really important. Why would the Trump admin do this? Is it just to fudge GDP, unemployment, and other economic numbers in the future? Or is there some other reason? www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...

Can we just say this out loud? The muted and almost light tone of coverage of this guy breaking into an airport and managing to board a plane with a LOADED SHOTGUN would be wildly different if he wasn't white.

Um…its because we are burning so many fossil fuels. The media are unable to link fossil fuels to climate change to the damage of climate change Burning coal, oil & gas heats oceans and atmosphere &causes more storms, bigger storms, more damage and higher insurance premiums. Its not complicated

Some Democrats seem to understand that they need to stop the corruption in government and focus on the working class in America. I love the use of AI in this by @rokhanna.bsky.social as it lets him gets these out quicker than traditional media operations.

I can't help but think with all this news about Dutton and his investment portfolio, Albanese is going to call an #auspol election in the next few days. He'll want to make sure it's the first thing the country thinks about going into a cost of living election. www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

Following on from my other post, Dutton received a lovely tax discount on his investment properties. The CGT discount needs to go. Even if it's just a Diet CGT that only applies to the first 2 or 3 properties, that will greatly increase tax revenue. But we know the LNP will never do that. #auspol

Oh look, Peter Dutton has a fuckload of investment properties that have made him millions, "that he has frequently declared to parliament late, partially, or not at all" I'm sure we can trust him to fix the housing crisis we have in this country. #auspol www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

Who wants to bet they've negotiated a bloody massive loophole to avoid paying the government any fees or royalties? #auspol

I'm looking forward to participating in an Ask Me Anything session tonight on Reddit. Come and join me from 5-6 pm! #auspol www.reddit.com/r/Australian...

Superannuation tax concessions are making inequality worse australiainstitute.org.au/post/superan...

"Starve the beast" is the strategy of conservative governments everywhere to ruin the services the public expects from the government and to justify the sale of vital public systems to private enterprise. The Tories do it in the UK, the LNP do it in Australia, the US has been doing it for years.

Rebates are temporary band-aids. Let’s invest smarter: rooftop solar and batteries deliver lasting relief on energy bills saving households up to $3,000 a year. It would cut inflation, boost energy security, and free us from global price shocks. www.afr.com/policy/energ...

That sound you here is the other shoe dropping, Labor will fund Medicare, but the LNP will only match it after they cut thousands of public service jobs. Peter Dutton, always looking to lower the bar. Don't let the LNP win at the next election. They cannot be trusted with government. #auspol

90% of WA’s gas is exported and the federal government gives them three quarters of the gas royalty-free. To add insult to injury, no gas export project has EVER paid PRRT. Big gas is taking the piss. We held a Politics in the Pub event with @johnbutlermusic.bsky.social to see what can be done.

Labor making more announcements that actually do something. I'd be stoked if this was the election that Labor stopped playing small target politics and actually swung for the fences. This will help deliver jobs and renewables. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

I criticise the ALP for not doing enough on the environment or trying to maintain a two party system, etc. but every now and again they announce ambitious policy that helps people, and deserve credit. This is one of those times. ALP deserve credit for this. #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

Remember, the ALP and LNP have been trying to get the fix in for some time. For a lot of folks, myself included, the summaries of it are convoluted and dull. But the Honest Government Ad folks have you covered. Please, preference other parties first. #auspol www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kYI...
