I am indeed a real person. But that's just what all the bots would say, so it's up to you to believe me or not. Interested in AFL, Science, Music, D&D, and pretending not to care about politics in Australia, UK, Europe, America, though I really do care.

3 years is a long time in politics, so who knows what will happen at the next election. But holy shit this seems momentous. The Nats will go further right. Maybe the Libs moderate if Ley can hold onto power, but surely Taylor tries to roll her ASAP.

What a win by the Tiges! Was not expecting that result at all but it was one hell of an effort. Lalor looks a bit special. #afl

"Killing Americans" sure sounds like a line they'll use as a justification for sanctions and future aggressive moves against Canada.

I don't think that question even needs to be asked. The coalition will be looking to throw away as many climate related policies as they can. It's why the LNP cannot win the next #auspol election.

The more I've seen, read, and heard of Auchincloss the more I like him. I hope he can become prominent in Democrat circles.

It seems like progressives the world over will always struggle though, because their ideas involve nuance and aren't always easy to boil down to 3 or 4 words. But at the very least they can ensure their ideas can't be reduced to a negative 3 or words, which conservative parties are very good at.

You're right, a lot of them are bad at Web 2.0. Especially on a national level. Gotta upvote Crockett and Frost as being good at it though, and perhaps Auchincloss, who at least understands that people consume media differently these days and is doing podcasts. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tnQ...

Unfortunately I think people won't vote to stop climate change until it directly impacts them, and by then it will be too late. In Sydney that's frustrating. We have 4 major rivers with large flood plains that would be inundated in a storm surge from a cyclone, impacting hundreds of thousands.

Ah the good old "purge em all" strategy. It's been nice knowing you America.

Every video I see of Tulsi Gabbard doing news interviews just makes me think of the evil spokesperson in XCOM 2. That weirdly out of sync background, the parroting of party propaganda, the dead behind the eyes gaze into the camera that says, "I don't care about any of you."

Sadly very much expected behaviour from #newscorpse

Oh, I just googled her, yeah I'm pretty sure she's got a Klan outfit at home.

With that quote that's attributed to her she might as well be wearing a Klan outfit

We can afford things, we just choose not to afford things. Meanwhile, Dutton wants to cut $6.5 billion a year from government employees and services. Usual "Starve the Beast" BS. #auspol

The rest of the CGT plan on investment properties should be open for discussion though. I personally would cap it at 2 or 3 to make it politically viable going into an election and getting it through parliament. But getting rid of it entirely should be the end goal.

The family home is fully exempt from CGT. No discount to be applied. That shouldn't change, and no politician would try to tax the family home.

It's like he's running through all those classic bits from his first term

Honestly, I don't even know why I'm surprised at this picture. Of course he struggles with crayons..........and the American flag.

Would I be right in thinking that because these are budget only bills, they can be passed via the reconciliation process? IE. They only need simple majorities in both houses to pass them. So all those cuts they've been talking about in Project 2025, they're about to get legislated?

Let's face it, Mango Mussolini would just get jealous of the kids with crayons and demand that they give them all to him. Then he'd say their drawings don't show the real constitution, and start writing in new amendments in sharpie at the bottom.

#Newscorpse strikes again with the fearmongering ahead of an #auspol election.

Labor given a chance to set the policy initiative for the election by the LNP with this. They should release more policies that the LNP will be forced to support, or give Labor a wedge to use in the election. Usually it's the LNP creating the wedge issues. #auspol

"It's almost like you've been deserting us for less shit options." We have been. We should continue to do so. I'll preference the ALP before the LNP just to make sure that my vote doesn't go to them, but the ALP won't be anywhere near the top. #auspol www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3WT...

Absolutely, there are some in there already that can form the basis of the next generation. But the 2026 midterms need to see the changing of the guard. Crockett and Frost for example. Moskovitz too. People who actually care about their constituents and the society they live in.
