This essentially defines the “Maple Leaf brand”

Article is paywalled. Can you share another version if feasible? Very interesting analysis with some parallels to N American pro sports (particularly NHL and NBA) and amateur sport

Now they’ve fired Lamorello and have #1 overall, rebuild coming. Not sure if Horvat makes sense. 2025 1st, Willander + 1 more for Barzal?? Unfortunately $9M cap hit and best season is 23G. Not sure that fits Nucks cap and team structure

Clubs/teams choose to ignore reprehensible behaviour when it’s convenient and when it might impact on field or on-ice results. Also see…almost the entire NFL
comment in response to post
I disagree, teams/clubs have behaviour and “professional conduct” clauses in every contract. These contracts are easily terminated or bought out. See: Mason Greenwood. Also, see: www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/...

Arsenal could learn a lot from the current reckoning occurring in hockey around a culture of sexual assault and misconduct. It’s repugnant that results and wins are valued over the victims. See: www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7511439

Classy ad hominem attacks. Enjoy Wolves ?? 🙄

When? EPL? He’s never scored a meaningful goal for Brazil, or in a cup competition. Havertz - UCL winning goal. “Doesn’t turn up”
comment in response to post
Maybe Trossard or Martinelli. Definitely not even in the same sentence as Saka. Both numbers and eye test disagree on Havertz. Havertz is also a tireless presser and knows how to play defence. Don’t think the same can be said for Cunha.

No need to get personal. Does he have high end skill? Yes. Does he apply it irregularly and seem to not care for long periods - also yes. I’ve seen a lot of him play the last 2 seasons. Will he move the needle at a big club or be another squad player?
comment in response to post
Don’t think he’s worth the wages, average talent
comment in response to post
Yes, sorry, “former TSN talking head”. Now Sportsnet just needs to fire Elliotte Friedman. Don’t know a single fan who can stomach his smug “spitballing” and self aggrandizing delivery
comment in response to post
Likely because he was so off base with his Leafs, Sens and Habs reporting that he lost all credibility in those markets. He’s just another TSN talking head no knowledgeable Nucks fan should take seriously

3 Hughes and 3 Petersson’s?? Price for Jack will be STEEP

Outside of greater Vancouver & Victoria, huge chunks of the interior are Con (likely 18/19 of those projected seats, see 2024 provincial election: vancouversun.com/news/https-v...

Never said that all, Oprah has done a ton of good, but she platformed and promoted Oz and has never criticized his grift or sleeze since
comment in response to post
Meh, Wild vs LVGK is 2 teams with no identity (LVGK is the Citeh115 of NHL - cheating, plastic club) Watch the Habs vs Capitals or Leafs vs Sens series for some real hockey, rivalry and history
comment in response to post
No. There were lots of warning signs, scientists and MD’s spoke out against Oz early. Oprah just chose to ignore them for ratings and profits. Her ongoing silence, and therefore complicity, speaks volumes.
comment in response to post
It’s so noticeable the difference in UCL refereeing standards, VAR application and objectivity (ie not having to deal with refs from greater Manchester/Liverpool every weekend).

They would never watch another live game at Rogers

Your point about protests from fans around sporting performance and ticket prices is well made. Nucks mgmt and ownership have shown profoundly thin skin & wouldn’t surprise me if they systematically ban any protestors, revoke tickets etc. Imagine a fan with a “sell the team” sign inside??
comment in response to post
Agree!!! I honestly think PA’s plan is “bad mouth him in public, drive down his UFA value, and hope he signs a team friendly deal” Brock’s a great guy, but it isn’t happening. There’s lots of teams happy to spend $8M/yr for scoring (some without state income tax too!!)
comment in response to post
This was always part of the long game, enrich himself and his family by any means. Wouldn’t be surprised if the next step is Don JR “running” as Vance’s “VP” in 3 yrs
comment in response to post
Great thread. Definitely think this holds true for ED patients. Dirt cheap, fairly broad spectrum, less QT risk, good lung penetration.

Long may it continue! What do we think of Tottenham?!
comment in response to post
No he’ll be running the session on yelling at the rookie goalie late in the 3rd.
comment in response to post
Ehlers is great, drives play, tenacious, but if the Jets go deep, will he be enthused with joining the dumpster fire that’s the Nucks?
comment in response to post
I’m sorry, you can’t equate those 2 injuries. 10 stitches? Once the wound is closed, with proper padding and taping it’s painless and inconsequential. Wrist tendinitis for an elite shooter like Petey, game changer.
comment in response to post
Allvin and JR can keep playing this stupid game of wanting players to “grow up” or “man up” and have toxic bullies like JT Miller do their dirty work, or they can realize they need to rebuild some trust and credibility with the players.
comment in response to post
These are just the ones we all know about. My guess is Allvin/JR are hearing one thing from team medical staff and players are still hurt. Highly likely Petey is out for the year due to an independent 2nd opinion.
comment in response to post
Tanner Pearson - hand Demko - various Petersson - knee and wrist Hughes - hand & oblique?
comment in response to post
Here’s a thought: Allvin and JR have zero clue how to manage a player through leaks and the media (BTW they inherited the core in PIT, certainly didn’t build it) Secondly, given how profoundly poorly Nucks injuries have been managed the last 2-3yrs, maybe they’re not being truthful???
comment in response to post
Consummate professional, under appreciated for his evolution into a 2 way player. Where are the Nucks going to replace his scoring? They could’ve resigned him last summer, but bet against him, AND publicly disparaged him. Overall, another situation badly mismanaged by Allvin & JR
comment in response to post
Bellingham & Rudiger were the only engaged RMA players, and both Bellingham and Alaba got torched by Saka multiple times
comment in response to post
If he played for any other club he would’ve been off by HT. His “defence” and “tackles” were trips and shoulder barges
comment in response to post
Not at 7-10 goals. Can’t kill penalties, soft defensively. That’s not value unless you’re a team trying to make it up to the cap minimum
comment in response to post
Calling VP a doctor is an insult to those of us who actually care about our patients’ wellbeing, and evidence. He’s a grifter, charlatan and grandstander.
comment in response to post
The infuriating thing is politicians say they want to fix the system, then don’t listen to those working in it, or evidence based policy options. See: Urgent Primary Care Centres in BC bcupcc.ca/facts/
comment in response to post
Yes, trained at McGill. Wonderful people, woefully broken & inefficient system. Prime example: PEM/PREM system for physician jobs.

Yes!!! 1000 times yes!! Private care in the USA model would’ve bankrupted my parents 10+ years ago. Public system isn’t perfect (I work inside) but problems can be addressed with good policy and funding. www.canadiandoctorsformedicare.ca

I’m sorry, no-one should ever knowingly cheer for Spurs. Levy makes Aquilini look rational and disengaged.

Unlikely! You have the cancer (oops I meant player) known as JT Miller

D-Petey, solid defensively, first goal. He’s got future top 4 potential.
