I lost my patience with grown-ass people some time ago. The "olds" seem to want to go back to something they think is better, but really? Clean air, water, safer cars, policies that lift up everyone. And we're fussing over masks?

It was different, though. A 3-year-old crawling into your lap, a 4-year-old who wants to show you their dinosaur. It was all a lot more truly hands on because that's what kids do. I was never annoyed at that, it was how it was in pediatric clinic. It was fun, but hard and no kid deserved to be sick.

Yes, I am calling out the old, white dudes because I had to deal with them in the ER for many years and with a few exceptions, they were the most entitled, whiny people ever. Having said that, when I worked pediatric clinic many years ago, (before Covid, but viruses...) I was sick a lot.

Had a lot of those guys show up in the many ER’s I’ve worked in and they were the least professional of any law enforcement (and I use that term loosely) officers I’ve ever seen. They never looked like they really knew what they were doing. Just sloppy.

Dude, I still have crazy nightmares just like that! I'm living in a house I haven't been in for over 10 years and all of a sudden dogs and sometimes cats (who've all been deceased for years) show up in the backyard. They have no water! no food! I haven't had any pets for 4 years. Cheers to Heater!

Diabetes forever and still don't understand that drinking soda all day doesn't help, hypertension but don't take the meds because "I don't like how it makes me feel", same for psych patients. It's beyond frustrating. They come to us for help and then they refuse to do what will help.

We're on the same page here. Most of the patients I see in the ER (and I've worked at a lot of them) keep returning for the same problems. The reason for that is lack of available/affordable primary care, BUT also the fact that they are non-compliant with the instructions we give them.
