People are often surprised that I keep my day job in tech despite doing so much work in comics and education. Quite frankly, things like what happened to Peter David are why. Comics are wonderful and I love working in them, but they do not provide for a stable future. I don't want a GoFundMe.

Peter David's wife is reporting that he passed away last night. A versatile writer of comics and prose who adapted well to many characters, he had been having severe health issues for a while. I am glad that he was around, and wish the best to those who knew him.

Whether it was Spider-Man or the Hulk or X-Factor, his style and wry sense of humor always elevated the story beyond the standard superhero fare.
